That's good news. I'd like to use the HSD as it's stock height/carb location will be critical with my Formula hood & aircleaner. I might be able to get away with using one of those 1/4" carb gaskets, or maybe a custom 3/8" spacer.

New set..275/60/15 Mickey Thompsom et pros...they are slightly larger than the old et streets in diameter and a slightly wider footprint...It looks like Saturday I will be testing the carb main body at the track to see how it works...Also Andy and Chris are going...both will rock the strip!

Big burnout! If the tires don't collect everything on the return road they aren't hot enough! My best 60ft last time was the best burnout.....Andy's buddy Paul was running beside me!I'm hoping with the new tires I don't need to melt them to stick!

I would not mind giving someone a good on Porting their HSD or Really any Intake to test with.
Ernie I'm super excited to see what tires do, i do wish you would test the tires then next time test the carb, but i understand how much time it takes!
Good luck! Let me know how it goes!

I'm hoping the tires will hook better with less burnout...its one of those track outings where I can evaluate both...I should have measured the circumference of the old tires vs the new ones...The Pros are slightly taller..so the effective rear end ratio is lower again.....The new carb should show more mph if more cfm is needed..I tried a larger 1000hp vs the 950hp...and it did not gain at the track...but that was before the intake work and dropping the tailpipes...I'm not expecting much gain..the timeslips will tell....Andy and Chris will both lower ets easily!

As Derek knows I've only been shifting at 5500 rpm...I've had a 5700 limiter chip in my MSD for a couple years now.Since my tach is off a bit I've installed a shiftlight...so I will experiment with higher shiftpoints ...I'm also taking my 950hp mainbody..for a swap if I have time...The car may seem dialed in to some...but many little cost effective changes are being made this year..The last modification of removing the tailpipes..was great..I dropped .1 and added 1mph for free!

Ran 7 times..the last 2 a spinfest both in the 11.50's with 1.9 60fts...First 2 with the 1050 Annular Main Body..11.3424/120.84mph 1.6705 60ft,11.3611/120.19 1.6632 60ft....I decided to swap the 950hp mainbody back on ..next three runs...11.2592/121.2mph 1.6647 60ft,11.2527/121.91mph 1.6709 60ft,11.2589/122.15mph 1.6686 60ft..The 950hp carb works well...I'm not giving up on the 1050 mainbody..it needs tuning..a set of tunable metering blocks and a AFR gauge will help immensely..

My Opinion on the 1050 Main body, is its too much, and your loosing velocity with it, it could work with more fuel possibly, but then your over fueling the engine for what it wants, I would stick with the 950 HP...

I agree...my carb, spacer, intake and heads are all about velocity...I'm glad I took my 950hp mainbody with me..it was about a half an hour swap on a picnic table..

Looks like the 60' times were identical between the two main bodies but ET & MPH were less with the 1050. Could the bigger annular boosters make the 1050 body actually flow less than the 950?I I believe the QFT 1050 bodies have 1.56" venturi diameters same as a 850 Holley.

What was your 1/8 mile times & speeds?

The 950hp only has a 750body..with the 1050 main body 7.2864/96.02,7.2943/96.22 with the 950hp main body 7.2446/97.26 7.2499/97.25 7.2375/96.84

My mistake. I thought you had a Quick Fuel 950 that has a larger venturi than the Holley 950. People rip on the 950HP for having a 750 body but they always seem to get it done on a wide range of combinations.
There's probably more left in that with further tuning 1050 though. That it matched the smaller carb to 60' is encouraging.

Yes I agree...I believe its the stock 950hp metering blocks holding it back.On the street the 1050 felt sluggish..the track confirmed it....On a positive note even with the car running slow for 2 runs it was still 11.34/11.36 at 120...
