It was nice meeting at Norwalk Ed. Car looks great and really moving along. I am excited to see you finally getting closer to getting it out.

You have a great attitude about all this, keep that and enjoy the build and finished product.

So how are you going to attach the front bumper, headlights, bezels & surrounds? That OEM bracket system is heavy...if I had a spare bracket set I'd drill a lot of lightening holes in it. Awesome build, there's nothing better than a fast car with a flat hood.

Mark over at Luhn Performance burning the midnight oil working on some mods for my DCI RA-V intake.
The fixture is a standard 45-degree intake manifold fixture that Mark modified by
making exact 10.7 degree spacers allowing the injector boss pads to sit flat to be precisely machined to the Moran injector specifications.

The injectors will be topped off with the Big Dawg -12 AN fuel rails held down by the SS straps designed into the sides of the adapter spacer thus allowing for the custom 105mm throttle body.

Hey John,

The larger holes are to mount one of DCI's Intake stuffers, I won't be
using one when boosted so Mark is going to reuse one of those holes
as well as adding a few more around it and install
a Switzer Burst Panel as a precaution against backfires.

Ed, looks like you guy's are making some more progress. Looking good !!!!!

I talked with Mark a little about the injector position and size of injectors you are using and after talking with him. I think you might need to consider another set of injectors with another computer up stream for street driving. I tried running big injectors in a build I done awhile back without much success on the street. We could get them to work at wide open or idle, but they were very intolerant everywhere else. We finally made an injector plate so to speak that went between the throttle body and intake plenum and installed smaller injectors for cruising around on. Worked really well and helped with the tune immensely. Just food for thought.

Hi Don,

Which size and brand injectors did you have issues with?

I've been wondering about the same thing... do you happen to know what duty cycle started giving you trouble with the big injectors?

You only ever hear about the max duty cycle and never the min..

Not sure what Ed is running, but a dominator ECU will run 24 injectors, so I assume you could program a second set for the street.

It was quite a few years ago, but they were Bosch. The engine was a 2.3 Ford Turbo coupe that we tried using the factory computer for, but that was a disaster. We ended up with a Motec computer for the high boost injectors and the factory computer for the smaller injectors. I don't remember everything, like I said it was a few years ago LOL. After we got it all sorted out though. It drove awesome on the street and ran mid 10's in the quarter. The car was a Thunderbird and weighed around 3600 pounds. Back when we built this not many people were into it yet. I had to figure out allot on my own. The car sure won the guy allot of money though street racing.

The Injectors I'm using are 235lb Moran Billet Atomizer along with the Holley Dominator ECU.
The injectors operate linearly with pulse width as small as 1.2 milliseconds and opens with the standard 4 amp peak and 1 amp hold ECU drivers.

That is Bad Ass looking with that top. I don't know about you Ed, but I'm freaking crank and it's not even my engine.

Mark does really nice fabrication work with his CNC machine.

The top looks like the same Holley Dominator EFI 105mm top that I installed on my Warrior/Nash dual quad intake (with efi). Mark and I designed an adaptor so that I could run a Accufab Throttle Body. The pics for that deal are over in the Boost Section somewhere.

Don did a great job on the "Split Port" design RA-V heads (No pushrod tube to leak bs) and this very nice intake for those heads. Great Job Don and Mark.

Tom V.

The "ring" was the way to go Ed, a welded top would have moved all over the place and would have needed a lot of extra machining.

I think Ed needs to have the RA V EN engraved in the top.

That's the plan, Mark will be sending over a few renderings showing different placement.
