Especially if you are feeding a family (I don't know if he does, so just assuming here that Jim has a life beyond the Pontiac hobby?). But the idea of taking in a partner or partners isn't that easy either. Its difficult to find someone that shares your dreams, has deep pockets, and doesnt mind throwing a few hundred thousand $ out into the wind....or tens of thousands of $'s for that matter. On top of it all you have to TRUST those partners. If you've ever partnered a business you know. |

So as far are partners, I got 20 bucks the wife don't know about. I will be willing to settle for a t-shirt in 4X as a partnership proposal.

I have also at times been "vague" on purpose. Especially if my statement is not aimed at a particular situation, person or event. If I am attempting to get an idea across it is not always necessary to pinpoint the moment in history something occurred, or the post # someone said xyz in, or the specific wording of the sentence someone wrote.
There's been a bit too much of that literal-ness here. |

I too am extremely surprised to hear that from you as a moderator b-man. Or rather...I had picked up on that sentiment from you at some point before but thought perhaps I was mistaken. In a court of law, a judge would recuse himself with bias of that type, or would be wise to.
I cannot speak to the actual lies that may or may not have been said here, and I'll leave it to others to tally up specific post #'s with false information, but I can tell you that over the years I have seen a lot of unsubstantiated innuendo and negativity toward the CV-1 people here that would not have been allowed on other forums I frequent by the moderators. Yes, they are forums with racers. This has been a slander fest for years. Perhaps it is time you hang up the moderator hat if it is too much to moderate this forum? I contacted Jim Sammons maybe 5-6 years ago out of curiosity about the heads. He answered the phone, was not in a hurry, and spent probably 45 minutes on the line with me. Approximately 3 years ago I contacted him again, this time interested in perhaps purchasing but aware that there had been a lot of negativity here on this forum. Again Jim spent time with me on the phone. He didn't even seem bitter, though perhaps I would have been, and told me there were no heads left for sale that fit my needs. He wasn't sure there would be any further production. Fast forward to a few months ago and I purchase an engine build with a new set of CV-1 heads from someone that bought them years ago, but Bill Anderson is more than happy to help me with information and assistance in prepping these heads with no profit to himself. Its interesting to note that as soon as there were new threads indicating CV-1.1's were coming back the negativity began again immediately. The assumption for example that for a CV-1.1 to be introduced with modifications from the original, automatically meaning that there was something WRONG with the original design. The fact that Bill Anderson enjoys working to modify the head for specific uses...again, an indication that because there are so many different designs there must be something wrong. Fact is, Bill does this type of work for a living, and obviously enjoys doing it for the Pontiac stuff...its no surprise to me that he's continually trying new things. And again, even though Bill posted his ideas on this forum with pictures and theory, his ideas were bashed. Not someone disagreeing and pointing out neutrally why they thought the idea might not be valid...it was bashing. And once again no moderator stopped it. I'll say it again. I can say that Jim has more than been fair and more than once bent over backwards with regard to customer service for me. I have no complaints with him or Bill whatsoever.

But Bill, that's no reason to make such a vulgar assertion. Before I bought Jeff's engine, I contacted Jim Sammons, Calvin Hill, Dave at SD Performance, Paul Spotts, as well as several others. I needed trusted experience to make sure I made the right choices. (RIP Bob Maxey, you were the go-to guy for so many of my "idiot" years). EVERYONE was great, with lots of opinion and extremely important advice, given freely, along with their time. I have NO doubt that Jim is a generous, honest and forthcoming man of his word. Calvin Hill will probably get my heads & intake IF I decide ultimately to stay with them and improve the basic combination. First, I've got to get it running, LOL. Calvin is also an honest no bull kind of guy who tells it like it is and doesn't oversell, or over promise. Truly admirable. When Jeff's engine went on the market, I recognized it as a fantastic deal for me with an initial cost of half of what building a motor would cost. Jeff gave me the no cost option of HP or CV1 heads. I asked him which was faster, and he honestly told me that the CV top end was about 0.1 and 2 mph faster. So, even though I was leaning to the HP heads, I chose the CV based on as-is performance. I still don't think it was a mistake, because it will eventually meet my performance goals. My previous post wasn't meant as disparaging to anyone. I hope that Jim and Bill can set egos aside and understand that I want them to succeed and continue to produce an awesome product. When there is no doubt that it outperforms any inline valve head, especially Tigers and Ram air V's, THEN it will be what it should be. Right now, in the opinion many of the really fast guys, it's not there yet. I don't know personally, so I have no opinion. TimeWarp, I understand about partners, personally. I understand monetary limitations, time and effort put into a product. I'm only trying to offer a manufacturer an outside opinion, one intended to help him improve his public image, sales and product. I know he is constantly under attack, but he and Bill really need to take the high road. Be better than your attackers, in every way. I'm sorry for hurt feelings, but I meant every word of it.
