Goolsby's is a no go. These guys are at a different level than I am. Couldn't take it until March, best case. Delivering one in a few days they've been working on 2.5 years. My adjuster was sending them their estimate and Goolsby's would let me know if it worked for them because they only did "perfection". I was ready to go at that point.
I just want my $500 Earl Schieb paint job back. I've got a contact in a more traditional body shop that I'll see about it next week. Alan said as long as it was simply fixing the damaged side, they'd look at it.

The shop that did my work was a traditional shop, HOWEVER, they have some very old-school, talented folks there who were enjoying working on my car. That's key I think, finding a shop where there are folks there who know how to work on old cars. In my case, there were 3 employees who fit that bill, including the shop manager who drives his El Camino to work daily. Find that in any reputable shop and I think you'll be pleased.

That is very fixable. Be sure they have a OLD GUY that knows metal work. These newer guys work on tin cans and want to replace a panel at the sight of a wrinkle, then slap plastic on it. Most shops that do insurance work, do their best to get things out ASAP, how it looks be damned. It makes me sick to drive a car like that, and some idiot ruins it for you. Good Luck.

You don't find young guys in body shops anymore....lol...just us old guys ! It's a dying business @ 46-50.00 shop rate...how much can you pay a tech ..? Any one with 1/2 a brain nowadays is turning a wrench,with a shop rate @ 96.00-125.00 per hour ,they can pay their techs some money. As we say around here with your dent....we'll put that on the Ironing Board...lol.. Good luck with your repairs..

Two little things today.
I emailed my Hagerty adjuster (Michigan) the other day asking a few questions and got back an automated response that he'd be back today. He answered my questions and also noted that he hadn't got the initial estimate back yet. He'd send it to me when he did and we'd go over it. One of the things that's bothered me about this whole deal is that the car is undrivable due to the wheel well lip being pushed over the tire. I was taking some stuff out of the trunk last night and it occurred to me that the spare tire was substantially narrower and the same diameter. I just mounted it and I can now drive the car. I have Blazer rear disc brakes and the spare is a 14" Cragar. The caliper clears but barely. Issue? The tire is 10 years old.
