Nice looking car! Sad you had to go through the mess but at least it looks like it's being done right and hopefully will be like new!

Chris, It's looking like mission creep is setting in...but that car deserves it. It is looking fantastic and those new "400" emblems are the finishing touch.

LOL. My W-31 is quickly (if not already) going that route, so the GT-37 will get exercised. Unlike before however, I'll end up cleaning the rubber off the quarters.

Gerry/Cindy, GREAT to hear from you. I've been meaning to shoot you an email, but rather busy with two cars and working to pay for them :-)

You know it Dennis. If I could just locate one more NOS Tempest fender emblem.

Well, the car is 5 hours away and I'm sharing the pics the painter is sending me (absolutely KILLING me, my car isn't home). Once I get the car back however, things could change.

Chris,

Curious as to how you think the W31 will run compared to the GT37. Ive heard the W31s are pretty wicked but havent really seen a well built/tuned pure stock effort with one.

actually, it's been done. 2004 I think , Casey Marks 70 F-85 W-31. 12.8 @ 106/108 (can't recall exact mph off top of my head).

Considering the W-31 is giving up 50 cubes to the GT-37, I don't think it'll be quite as fast/quick. While I have lightened the GT-37 some (radio delete, manual steering, will be going back to 2/3core radiator vs the 4core aftermarket in the car now) it will still weigh less than the W-31 (which I've lightened by only manual steering and radio delete. Mine is a buckets, console, HD cooling car so not the stripper it really needs to be for an all out effort). GT-37 weighs about 3740 with me in it. I expect the W-31 to be at least 100lbs more.

There have been a couple 68 Ram Rods (W-31) that have raced, best has been 13.3s. Several other 70 W-31s have raced, but no 69s have.

Interesting. Why does the W-31 weigh more?

One difference would be buckets and console in the olds, vs bench in the Pontiac.

I'm soooo happy to have the car back.
I'll let these pics speak for themselves.

Here's a pic of one of my oldsmobiles ... as a reflection in the pontiac

I still need to fix the tailpipe from the accident. And of course install the stripes and GT-37 decals. then the mightaswells - weatherstripping, door and trunk bumpers, package tray, rechromed door handles, etc, etc
