Default Can you paint over zinc oil pan
I don't know if this is the right place for this question but I thought I would start here.

If you can paint over zinc plating what do you need to prepare it for engine paint?

Scuff it up with scotchbrite then pickle it with vinegar - next time.

Then use epoxy primer.

I scuffed it up with scotch brite wiped it down with Brake klean painted it with engine primer and then painted it with VHT SP122.

I will let you know if it flakes off.

I think it will be OK. It's only an oil pan for Gods sake. Most people paint it bare metal without primer and probably never wipe the oil off! I have painted lots of chassis parts that were zinc plated and they were fine for years, plus they're only chassis parts and aren't staring you in the face.
