I worked today on securing the 71 Core Top on the new Radiator Core from a 1970. Used the grinder to clean up all the sharp edges from drilling out the spot welds. I now have it secured in the car with bolts and nuts until we spot weld the holes shut...
I have no reason to believe that this will not work!...

I am going through a similar experience but my 71 GTO support with A/C , carbon canister and the pesky Endura front grill mountings are making the transition alot more difficult.
Were you not able to use the new donor bottom support to repair your original support?

I didn't want to mess with repairing the original core.
The original is still in pretty good shape. I plan on selling it.

Last November as we were purchasing the 71 LeMans, Kathy "advised" me I could buy it on one condition....her breezeway was going to get a Make Over!...
Well, needless to say, but the LeMans has been on a sabbatical for the last couple of weeks. We are screening, new carpet, furniture, lights, screen doors....and what ever else trips her trigger..

Well worth the effort for you Kathy Keller and my other love.....Blu BiYu!

My sabbatical is now over....Back to the shop!!..
I had removed the old top from the original Core. Purchased a 1970 Repop Core, removed it's new top, and welded the 71 top to the new core....Why you may ask? 'Cause they DON'T make new cores for the 1971 LeMans Sport....
Up to this point, everything seems to work like a charm....Never know....haven't got it completed yet, but indications are that everything should bolt up to the new core....

Have a new GTO Valance with cutouts to surround the quad tips....Oh my....Excited!!
Start at the engine....then start at the rear and meet in the middle! What's left? Excess baggage!
Measure twice...cut once!

Great choice for the exhaust!!! I too have their system on my car.

I haven't been in the shop for some 4 weeks....Nothing wrong...just have to get back into the mood....I am still stoked about getting her done. I am now ready to finish wiring, plumbing, installing the needed cables for the kick down cable and throttle.
I also left the exhaust where it was. Need to clamp it together for the time being. When I am satisfied, I will weld the system.

It took a while, but I made it back to the shop. Sure did not take long for me to catch my breath and make some progress. She is not far from my starting her up!
Finish the exhaust, wiring under the dash for the gauges and Tachometer, shifter and linkage, fluids, and rear end grease....
Let's do this thing!

It went very well. I would suggest this path for anyone that is not restoring a #'s matching car....as you can tell I don't have the complete front end on the car, but I feel it will work just fine!...
Thanks for the compliment on the engine! Yesterday, I finished up the exhaust installation. Sure looks sweet with PYPES 2 1/2" stainless exhaust. Can hardly wait to fire her up for some sound...

Finished up the exhaust system yesterday. I had plans of welding it, but found another solution....1 inch band clamps from Summit Racing!...
I took some time and looked back at the before, during and after photos of the undercarriage....WOW! what a change!...
