I think the '65 GTO was the best year. The first year of stacked headlights which I like a lot. It also seemed to be more streamlined then other years. The '67 would be in second place along with the '71, Carmine.

Most all of these misnomers are just people wanting to sound knowledgeable. Using buzz words they really don't understand. The harder they try the more ignorant they sound. Every time someone starts talking about what they had or what their brother had or their friend had I just wait for a break in the conversation tie it up and move on. Some people do say some of the most rediculous things. You can't educate world.

A guy saw my Judge in the garage one year during a neighborhood garage sale. He told me he once had a "Plum Crazy" purple Judge with a 440 six pack.
I think that is the automotive equivalent of a mixed metaphor.

If you guys didn't own big pee pee cars, aka the rare valuable musclecar models, and just owned a "regular" Pontiac, then you wouldn't attract the big pee pee, know it all (incorrect) comments. I get nice car, and styling comments, but not the weird stuff. Only one Camaro comment in over 30 years of birds, thank God
 I get lots of womens comments on car, it is more their thing than big scoops and such, so couger crowd comments, that is not so bad! So ditch your marquee pee pee cars and you won't have the issues in this thread! (ha). The downside is I do get reminded sometimes, that Pontiac made some fast Firebirds likes Formula's and Trans Am's..... {Really?} Seriously, I just find someone noticing and seeming to like car is huge gratification, no matter how dazed and confused they may be. It is not my job to educate the masses, so I let wander off the same as they came.... unless they humbly seek truth, then I will gladly help...

I was reminded of a "thing" I have struggled to accept for decades, the orange "GR-RRR!" front license plate on anything other than a Pontiac. The most recent sighting was several days ago on the front of a late model Dodge Ram pickup. I guess most people today never knew ( or have forgotten ) it was associated with Pontiac's "GTO Tiger" sales campaign, but to me it still looks wrong on any non-Pontiac.

Super rare stamped numbers. Judges. SD T/As Fieros, Solsticses 64 GTOs, 69 GTOs (that was easy), 74 GTOs, annnd, 71-72 GTO hoods. Rare block castings, TH400 taggings, any rear housing incluging super-rare F-body 12-bolt from 69 camaro, and double-slap F-body 10-bolt, and "N" housing GTO/GP with 3.90s. Nevr needed to get over dizzy stamping#s, alt numbers, water pump #s, nor 8-tracks, power door&window sets. I did however sell a complete 68 Cruise Control setup for $45 thinking there not a highway to turn it on for. Well i got over that long time ago. Good to great condition seems most important to me. Could be a GTO, LeMans, or a Pinto. |

Buick style air cleaner stickers? Yep. Seems a lot of people think they are supposed to be there. Lot of owners like them to show off their displacement. No biggie.
Pontiac big block? So what if they only made one size. It's not such an insult, especially when you consider they are same basic outer dimensions as many other big blocks, including the 396/454. GM killed Pontiac? Yep. Happened in 1977 with the last v8 far as I am concerned. Got over it decades ago. |

The problem I have with the 'Buick' style stickers is ignorance. If guys just like them and want to stick them on there, then that's ok by me. The problem I have is with Ebay cars with seemly nicely detailed engine compartments and otherwise nice looking cars with those stickers stuck on there. It makes you wonder what things that you can't see were either done incorrectly or not done at all. I noticed several fairly nice looking Pontiacs up for auction at the Mecum sale in Kissimmee. Sorry but when I so those I looked no further.
