I get more comments from strangers and friends about my 1980 280ZX than I do about my older cars. It's a fair driver with primer spots all over it and a ripped interior. It has to be because their are more people around with vivid, direct memories a 1980s old car than a 1960s old car.
The hobby is not going anywhere but regardless of how WE feel about it, the types of cars that get the attention are always going to change from generation to generation.

It's funny to me to mention that memories drive the car passion. No one in my family that I know of has or had a Pontiac, and I really wasn't exposed much to old cars growing up. I went to the auto show and some car shows, but I never wrenched on anything automotive growing up. The main reason I got into Pontiacs was actually seeing this car:


For whatever reason I saw that car at a car show and fell in love with it. This pic was taken about 13 years ago when I was about 16. It's interesting to realize how much impact and influence a person can have on old cars by just driving one around.

Yup was close, but I was told that the Q-jet was only 715 CFM.... , could he have meant 750?
Had a friend with a '71 Barracuda with a Rochester 2BBL on it ...

That's still a memory...it's just more recent than most of ours. There were never any Pontiac people in my family either but my memories were of 3 individual Pontiacs that I remember seeing from my childhood. I never even rode in two of them but that was enough to spark my love of the Pontiac marque.

I once had a 340 Duster that came with a Thermoquad. It never ran right so I put a Quadrajet on it and it ran geat after that.
