Kurt
I just spent the last little while reading this entire thread. Your car is beautiful ! I'm 4 years in to a very similar project with a 72 Sport convertible. It should go off to paint this fall. I only wish I'd been as committed to photos as you've been. I know you'll be one Proud Papa when folks are oohing and aahing over your Baby. Awesome !!

Kurt,
She sounds and looks great. I bet , after high cam and warmed up, she sounds even better at idle.

1NC,
Thanks so much for reading our thread! It's funny how when I was a young man, I used to document and photograph all of my cars....I guess it's tough to break tradition!...
I am excited for you to get the 72 Vert to paint! What color are you going to paint her?...
Again, Thanks for gracing our page!...

WC,
Oh my....I was so excited to hit the key! When she came to life, the look on my face probably told the story....That never gets old!...
She does sound pretty good at idle....
Thanks for commenting and keeping up with the thread!...

Pont3,
Thanks for your looking and commenting! Just like Golf....a birdie or a par on 18 is what keeps us coming back!...
That is how I feel every time I start her up and close my eyes to listen...

Time to bleed the brakes....Did the Bench Bleed of the MC...Now that she is running, time to bleed the calipers....This pump seems to work pretty well on getting the fluid from the MC to the calipers....I will ask my son Clint to help finalize the bleeding of all air in the system....
Great part of using this pump first is that it'll find any leaks in the system....

Sounds and looks great Kurt. What's the build data on your 350? A lot of people here only build 400s and up so it would be good for others to see.
Thanks and keep rollin!
Joe

She's going to be a dark grey / pewter / silver with an interior similar to the original saddle but with just enough reddish tint to make the paint pop. Hope to be driving it by spring.

Thanks Joe,
She has her original 350. The prior owner added a 4 barrel Q-jet and Pontiac intake. I had her bored 30 over with new slugs, Elgin Pro Stock Hydraulic Cam 281 lift and 420 duration. I did not want any more cam for a couple of reasons. 1st...She is going to be a cruiser...with a 2:78 rear end...2nd...I did not want to have to purchase a vacuum pump as I did for my '68 Camaro. With the new disc brakes, I wanted her to provide the vacuum. She retains her stock look along with her exhaust manifolds. I did install a Breakerless Ignition from Lectric Limited....No more pesky points to mess with.....
I also, at the same time asked Chuck's Engine Service to completely go through her TH350 Trans as well...

Thanks Kurt. That's very close to what I have in mind. Visualize a black drop top, 15" Rally wheels and GTO rockers

Default Blu BiYu Maiden Voyage

She is now down on all fours....
Finished up under her. Tightened all the front end and installed the cotter keys. Adjusted the QA1 Motorsports front suspension with the spanner wrench...
Installed the Corvette Rally Wheels to get me by until I get her to Hubbard GM Center for a front end alignment.
Then it is off to paint for a fresh coat of 1989 Camaro Blu....

More from today's work in the shop...
Looking back to November 2016 until August 2017...9 months...
Not bad for this old boy and his toy...

A clean shop and a parking spot for Blu BiYu....
Right up till the time Rare Blu makes it home to roost...

You set a high bar. Must feel good to accomplish so much.

Color is great. You need new paint?

May I have your old paint? Car looks great to me.

Thanks Buddy!
I can't tell you how stoked I am on this rebuild! This car should be a complete "Head Turner" once we are done with her...
I am going to post a video of her taking her first trip around the block since bringing her home last November 2016....

Made me happy to see your victory lap. Thanks for sharing it.

Liked all the little big stuff getting checked out.

Brakes work! Check.

Responds to pedal blip, reverse works. Check.

Sounds good. Big grin.
