Just heard Dave will be just over the hill in Redding on Nov 11th. Word is he might bring someone with him.
Hope its Chief so a Pontiac can be top dog. I understand its 50,000$ to get him to come out. When Farm Truck and co showed up they cleared 80,000$ at the gate. They sure support their track over there, Cool April Nites have become something. I wish our track (Samoa) could get something like that. We have a better track. Maybe we need new management. |

Dave is a cool guy in person, pretty soft spoken.
As you get to know Dave from watching the show, you realize that he is a very intelligent guy who knows how to play the street race game very well. Not just in driving but in the preparation of the whole race environment to give himself maximum advantage. In person, without the TV programs, showing his "game" you would never suspect how much he plays the "Behind the Throne" game. Farmtruck and Aze are just real, everywhere. Tom V.

Nice to see car guys getting celeb status, my son's friends say to him now-"Doesn't your old man race a Pontiac like Chief?" A couple of years ago they had never heard of Pontiac!

I have never tried to call Chief up on the phone.
I assume I had his number (at one time) as for a while I was getting Oklahoma phone number calls on my cell and only Butler and Travis had that number. But I never tried to call the number back. Figured whatever it was about, Travis Q. had it covered. Tom V.

Agree, and no one asked for your opinion. Equal sin on both sides, get over it.
By the way, the post was about Daddy Dave and I stand by my post that he is an easy guy to talk to when the crowd at PRI is around Chief. If Dragncar says he has talked to Chief, so be it. Tom V.

Just like Pontiacs man. If I can help with someone such as him to show up and help our track, I will do it. You will never get anything if you dont ask. Learn some things too. I like learning things.
Had his number from a old PM, before the show. When I have told my nephew and some of the other 20 something kids I have talked to him online in the past, they freak out. The young man is pretty famous, people who are not into racing or Pontiacs know who he is. Just love it when Pontiacs stand up to, and beat the big brands. No one has done more to keep our old brand alive and well in the modern world, as far as the masses. Once I called up the regional outfit that rents things like torque plates to machine shops and told them there was not any Pontiac plates available to rent. So they bought one. The local machine shop told me they did not have that kind of pull. Sometimes you just have to ask. |

A hell of allot of other people have done more to keep our brand going than him. Who's block heads ect does he run? Without the parts others have made he would have no platform to build from.

Justin came to Tulsa one night at the midnights years ago before the show to see my car run because at the time we ran very close to the same which was 10.0 - 10.50...we talked for awhile that night. It was after the Pink's episodes they were on... The way the world is today most non racers didn't even know what a Pontiac was but because of Chief they do now... |

You can build all of the fast cars you want but without the "Word of Mouth" (TV Time)
99% of the people have no clue who is a John Clegg, Kennedy, Peterson, or GTOGEORGE. Chief has helped the Pontiac Brand a massive amount, as has The Butlers and Travis Q on the car and engine stuff. The Butlers have been around the TV game for quite a few years now and are pretty sharp on the TV side of marketing the Pontiac Brand. Just Saying, The Manufacturers typically do the work and are pretty invisible otherwise (except in the actual racing community). Tom V.

"as far as the masses" , cant some of you read ? We all know who has made the parts, their lineage, from the Wenzler to the Eagle rod, E head, IA1 and on and on.
People who know very little about racing, much less Pontiacs know who he is. And even know he drives and runs a Pontiac engine. Its great, came a long way. 10 years ago he was just another one of US on this board. Just remember talking to him online and he said he was not into racing at the strip. Said there was a big, high end street racing scene in Oklahoma City ( I have family there) and that was where it was at. Made it into a TV show, its great, proud of the guy. How can any of us knock that. ? There will always be jealous types in everything. |
