Ok so I contacted Al Knoch Interiors, e-mail sent 10/25, reply received 10/27 from (Melanie), called today and spoke to (Rayna) on the first attempt.

Upon receipt of their e-mail with a printable UPS label I am to box my dash pad, deliver it to the UPS facility and from the time it's received by AKI there is a lead time of 5 - 7 business days.

Quote for 1968 GTO non A/C dash pad ($500 shipping included), cost for the pad was actually $400.

Seems to be very reasonable and I would much rather keep my original.

So I guess the AC dashes are just more expensive ... has to be more labor involved.

Can't wait to see what RagTop comes up with for DIY ... cause I always lean that way.

This is what I'm dealing with. Not the biggest repair needed. That's why I'm going to try it myself first.

Yep, my dash is like 95% .. it's got one crack in it. I keep in covered in baby oil in a bag ... probably doesn't help a bit.

When looking through a tinted windshield, a tan paint looks limey green, and looks pretty good., better than any black.

Seems GM, Pomtiac had a upper dash metal color scheme that needs studied. Was upper dash metal not aleays black for black dashpad?
