That's what I thought. It's limited.

When I had my front end redone on my car 2 years ago, my local shop, whom I've known for many years, did the work. He's a modern shop who does mostly collision work. However, there are a few old-school guys there who were having a great time working on my car. So much so, in fact, that they did more work that I requested and did it better than I ever could have imagined. They did the following:

-removed entire front end.
-prepped new `glass hood, including sanding the undersigde smooth and painting it to make it look less like a glass hood.
- repairing old bodywork on a front fender
- aligning the fenders to the slight curve of the glass hood by removing all welds and re-welding the inner-to-outter fenders such that all seems were perfect.
- completely filling and sanding the blower motor cover to make it perfect (I never asked for that one at all!)
- creating a hidden mount for my MSD box and all related wiring so that it's completely invisible yet accessible.
- painted entire engine bay, frame, etc.
- painted the full nose of the car with perfectly matched paint.
- painted that tough finish texture paint you see on the bottom sills of Mercedes on my lower rear quarters.
- realigned all of my windows
- relocated my battery and wiring to the correct side of the car (remember, it's a LeGTO)

He did all of this in about 4 weeks, and I was chomping at the bit to get it back. So I can't imagine waiting a year for a repair job. It's not a full resto or anything. Sheesh.

Oh, and my guy only charged me the insurance hourly rate which as I recall was in the $4x range.

That reminds me, I need to bring my two other cars in to him for bumper work.
