Tiretread and Dataway, be thankful you aren't in Watertown, NY now. They had -32 up there. I sure don't miss it. And I don't miss the -40(overnight temp) and -83 wind chill temp we had back in the 80s. Tho it was 13 degrees here last night, it'll be down to 9 here come New Years Day morning.

Stay warm guys and gals.

It should be a great game today in Orchard Park, NY. World Junior Hockey being played outdoors at New Era Field, home of the Bills. For a lot of these players, a last stop before going into the NHL.
Two hockey powers battling it out on a frigid winter's day, possibly some snow. An expected attendance of 40,000 people. It doesn't get any better than that. The US team is favoured this year and they won it all last year. We let the US win every once in a while to keep it interesting.

Forecast for New Year's Day for Louisville is a high of 18 degrees and a low of 4 degrees. That means it will be 14-15 and 0 to -1 out here. Definitely a good day to say INDOORS! On the plus side, it will take care of the mosquito and tick populations which have been nearly unbearable due to the warmer than normal winters we've had the last couple of years.

Here in Green Bay all of the talk is about the 50th anniversary of the "Ice Bowl", Dallas vs Packers for the NFL championship. The winner got to play in the first super bowl even though it wasn't called that ye. It was -13 at the kick-off and dropping. Even though the stadium held less than 50,000 at the time there are a half million people who swear they were there.
Not quite that cold this year but cold enough. -6 over night and slightly above zero during the day and continuing all week. My new (to me) convertible in the garage will have to stay there for a while.

When I first saw this thread I thought the subject was going to be catchy weather phrases. On that note it is "cold enough here to freeze the balls off a brass monkey!"

I just totalled up all the lows for the next 7 days and they only add up to +15 degrees.

Not bad. How'd the tournament work out for you guys? .We had a relative bunch of nobody's against heavily favoured teams like the USA and Sweden that were loaded with elite top NHL prospects.

Like I said...
