Those to can be a pain, example one year I went to Heart Of Bucks car show in Doylestown PA, when it was at the school field. That was judged,

AACA. You’d think they knew what they were looking at? Nope! They said I’d lose 5 points for having chrome valve covers, and stainless air cleaner lid. I asked did they know why my car has those things???? The answer was it was modified, my answer........ it’s a 400 Firebird, and the chrome and the air cleaner we’re the 400 package. They walked away, and came back an hour later saying they researched that and I was correct. It was the difference between first place and second. Had I not been at the car to correct them, it would have been second place. .......... Dave you were there that year I think. So that’s another reason not to get your panties in a bunch over a trophy. Just goes to show, even those who are supposed to know, DON’T!! I Schooled the experts that day lolol. and took first in class. That was more fun to me than the award. Lol

The only award I ever won was on a truck I hadn’t entered in the show just parked it nearby. People left the area to come look at it and voted it people’s choice. My 61 C-60 10 wheeler

Very cool I love old trucks and jeeps Mike and I restored several, but my 2 favorites were a 60 Willy’s wagon, and a 53 Willy’s truck.

I didn't think AACA gave place trophies, just points judged towards individual awards. I don't think my car can be judged by AACA, although I have been a member for years, because its a clone. I have had many motorcycles judged through the AMCA (which has a similar judging standard) though, and it was always for points. But i did have a similar situation with them. I had a '39 BSA with chrome fenders and chain guard, the judges took points off, but I had evidence/proof that the bike was completely original. The burden of proof was on me to present this info and the points would be added back retroactively.

Yes they do at some shows. Here are mine from 2 that we’re AACA judged, also they used the AACA points system when judging. Even the Concorse show I won was AACA points judged. But that show was an ALL GM class and only one award. Sorry they are sideways, don’t know why, they’re not in my photo library lol.

That's good info. thank you. I have no experience with AACA judging other than looking at the cars, I have shown with the AMCA many times though and am a bit more versed on their practices.

Maybe you’re thinking of the Hershey Show. They do the points only thing because participants are competing for those grille awards, Junior, Senior, etc. awards you have to get those points for those awards.

Some of us have a "trophy case" (with no national awards) but not a "trophy wall" like yours!

Hey MA, I miss that Buckingham show. There were some of the nicest Classic cars around in that show. My brother-in-law won Best of show there for his 30 Model"A" one year. My car did not qualify at that show being modified, which I understand.
I love the old 20's and 30's rare classics.

I really didn’t want this wall, it was my Hubbys idea. I usually just keep each Year’s winnings on display around the house for one year, than pack them away, or donate them to kids and special olympics events, because now I’ll have to dust every single one. Blahhhhhhh plus I’m only 5’4” which means up and down the step stool as well. he means well, but he don’t do the cleaning lol. I would have rather used that wall for pictures.

Yes it was fun, but honestly not my kind of event the people are very different. Like walking around with champagne. That win was the biggest shocker of my car show history, as well as first in class at The Pontiac Nationals in Norwalk Ohio. It was curiosity more than anything else, that I entered my car. I did both once, and won at both in a big way. I’m over it, back to some more relaxed events. 🙂
