All 1965 GTO’s came with the top finger guard, except for an air condition optioned car.
The AC cars required a full metal fan shroud. The finger guard did not come with the shroud.

There was another factory fan shroud made of a thick fiber plastic #9774621. This was used for the trailer package or field-installed AC.

And the '65's with AC (and a fan shroud) had a different height radiator core. So if you upgrade to a shroud, you'll need to find an aftermarket one for a non-AC radiator, which is 2" shorter at the core.

Makes sense.I know it would help cooling efficiancy. Not as concerned with authenticity. I guess fan size would matter too. Going to ask the seller for more info.

Decided against it. terrible reviews on the part. Not originally equipped with one anyway. What worked in 65 should work in 2020
