The correct and best answer is our board sponsor AMES.

However, here is a link to a PDF file for M&H Electric Fabricators which produces several harnesses and battery cables for 1974 F bodies..

I would second Ames, only because I have been happy with every purchase from them. That said, I am the farthest thing away from an electric guy, but why do you want to replace everything? It may be easier and cheaper, to start tracing things down. Most electric problems can be solved easily with fixing a bad ground. When I did the resto on my 77 all new harness' were on my list. However once I got the car running and started to pull the bad crap out of the way, making sure I had good connections and the grounds were good, everything worked as it should. Wires generally don't go bad just because.

You can't go wrong with M&H. Used them on my 74 TA.

I second what TAKerry said. I used to be intimidated by electrical wiring, but it is not that difficult to check. I have restored / refurbished dozens of wiring harnesses for late 60's to mid 70's cars. If the harness is out of the car , it is easy to check continuity using an ohm meter. I have a large container full of old wiring and lots of original connectors. You can easily purchase the correct style spade pins other ends too.The correct looking wrap is also readily available. Just yesterday I made the correct wiring for my 1967 GTO under hood light.

Also, if you post more specifics about your electrical issues there is a wealth of knowledge amongst the members here.

I can't speak for any other brands, but I used American Autowire in my '67 bird and am very happy with it. It came with everything needed, including ALL of the factory type (Packard 56) connectors, and the wires were extra long to re-route different than the factory locations.

I've not bought a wiring harness from any of them, to be upfront on this topic. But, at one time at least, M & H was supposedly willing to customize their harnesses to match the modifications to your car. Things such has switching from external to internal regulator alternator, points to HEI, a power lead for electric choke, extra "switched" power sources under the hood, etc.

Maybe all of them will offer such things now, or maybe none of them. But with a modified car, it might be something to inquire about.

Any are a compromise. You won't get all the options for all vehicles and you won't always get matching plugs to original. They don't simply swap into place where the original once was, and you often have to modify anyway. It's easy to get a decent used complete harness, or 5, and can then adapt and modify to suit, replacing where it needs it or simply reusing plug where they are unusual with new wiring. It depends what you need and how much you are prepared to do yourself.

I would not mess with a 45 year old harness. The insulation breaks down. A high quality fresh harness is always better in the long run. It's not worth the reliability or fire risk...

umm, I'm not sure where you're getting your information, but I think you might be wrong on this.
The looms sold through Ames are direct replacements, with same coloured wires and plug ends;
and you order it based on your car's configuration.

Lectric Limited is who I used. They make the harnesses in house and can customize based on what you tell them your car has in the way of changes since new, etc. They also have a lot of the important changeovers for mid-year and model year changes with notes on the website to help get the right harness. Mine were a perfect fit and took less than 10 days to get them after ordering.

I have seen a MH harness on a 72 and it seems to be a nice quality. It has the correct color wires and plugs

Contact Delmar Wire and Products. 909-947-1407

You will need to buy 25 or more terminals, but they should be able to help you out.
