And it can be done.. footbraking in an 11 second street car with flip flops and Bermuda shorts on if you know what your doing. The best they can go with those boxes is double 0 and dead on, and I can do that with my feet. Not as consistently as I did in my super pro days, I’ll grant you that, but if you get hot, it just takes a few pieces to fall in place. One lucky round here or there. Box guys get soft against us foot brakers.. they get afraid to go red so they click a few thou in they normally wouldn’t and leave the door open.

One of the best racers ever at our track was a foot brake guy. He had a Vega with big tires and a 3 link. sbc with less than 500HP. So it would never spin, light, great 60 foots. Car ran just over 10 flat. Good luck trying to beat him. He used the visor and just used the bottom bulb, leaned his head back so that was all he saw. Under .010 all the tame and ran withing .02 of his dial all the time.
He sent so many out of town folks with delay boxes home it was not funny.
I won just as much foot braking it. Its a whole different deal. My T brake broke last year and I finished the weekend foot braking. Fish out of water by now.
There are many, many real fast cars a whole lot nicer than mine that have not won even half as much as me.
But George will tell you they are all amateurs to take away what I have done.
George and Stan are still posers. Just because you raced your wife's 'street car a few times down the track does not make you "a racer for life".
And plenty of people are racers that dont even race or own a car. They live the life. Build engines, port heads ect.

Who do you help out around here really ?
I have 50 NHRA trophies in my heap. I build the engine, tranny and rear end as well as install suspension. Now just how can you "help me out" ?
I am about to step up in power in a pretty big way. Doing engine and tranny myself. Rear end needs nothing.
You give a bunch of numbers that rarely mean anything to very many people.
Your MO is to quote someone, highlight the one part you find fault with and point it out but in truth you are a troll. A no car computer only troll that hangs out in the race section. Textbook.
Stan is a racer as much as anyone else here and he contributes tech more than most.

He help me with some estimated hp and shift point scenarios.

Most all here have a passion for the racing of our obsolete brand , that makes them racers.

Congrats on a helluva weekend!

I "borrowed" the wife's car for a footbrake race this weekend and made it to the finals but didn't close the deal. We were splitting so it really didn't matter anyway!
In the limited times I've ran her car (under 30 passes total) I've now pulled 2- .000 lights with it, once off the brake and Sunday off the foot! I like her car.

..........GTO George a POSER, do you even know the definition of the word?

A FUNNY story..........I raced with a guy that everytime he won a round (it was because of him) or lost a round (it was never him), another words he never really looked at the REAL reasons for the WINS or LOSES because of that he NEVER got any better (basically he was fooling himself)! Just Saying!

Ive been around the block a few times in my 47 years of racing! I started off Foot Braking (I can still so it, I've done it a few times in the car I have now), done that for 20 years or so. Then I was forced (Ok I guess I didn't have to) to go to electronics (per NHRA) they changed the rules. I know all about how good a racer can be Foot Braking........its like anything else the more you do it the BETTER you get (or should)! Ill take my chances with a Foot Braker ALL day long.....its not that they can't ,its..............the odds are with me!
Oh by the way..........GOOD Job!

The odds are definitely in the box guys favor as far as consistently being able to chop down the tree for sure

Who the he!! do you think you are running down the people at my track and their abilities ? Its been in continuous operation since 1955. How many tracks can say that.
We have a few racers that travel all over the country for big time bracket races.
I cut a .027 and most of the time that gets a win, but he cut a .020. Both ran our dials.
You know NOTHING about racing with a Delay Box!
Im not personally running down the racers at the only track you race at (that just SILLY), I'm just calling it like I see it! If you a Foot Braker can run S/pro and clean theirs clocks as much as you say you do , then it is what it is! Just Saying!

Thats a typo George, I meant Bruce. You just seem to pile on with those two and I made a mistake. Apologize for that one.
You are a racers racer beyond the crap here.

Now George, you leave on the top bulb and punch in your delay, right ?
That means in between the time you first see the top bulb and hit your button there is a human component. Same as when I try and time my release of my Trans brake (don't foot brake anymore, read George, read) to the bottom bulb.
Its the same thing only with a delay user having slightly more control.

I don't clean anyone's clock on a regular basis. I just have some good days and bad ones. Just no stranger to going rounds.
Not actually asking you out here, it would be like me hauling to Norwalk. Not going to happen.
But if you think a good foot braker gets his clock cleaned regularly by racers just because they run a delay box you are NUTS. Its bracket racing with rules designed to make it a level playing field. I got shut down one by a guy on his first ever pass. He had a .004 first time, what do you do with that ?

BTW, you ending every "short post" with "JUST SAYING" is lame, lame and just freaking weak and childish. Its like you can say whatever snarky, crappy and degrading thing you want and make it OK with "just saying".
Its the same thing kids in my school did in the 5th grade. But they would say something snarky and cover it with "no". I knew it was bad behavior then and how is yours different ?
Didn't you ever grow up ??

No disrespect meant at all to Alan Johnson, but they didn't exactly reinvent the wheel with the 481X. It's basically a Billet version of a Big Chief with the cam raised and pushrod moved around to improve valvetrain geometry. It has a standard 4.840" BBC bore spacing, and uses a BBC crank, with optimized bearing sizes, an 8 bolt Hemi flange. The block height is 10.4" and they are a 4.5" bore engine, so they've aren't some huge bore, stretched block monster that many assume them to be. The center 3 mains are crossbolted and the block design honestly looks just like a shiny Big Chief block.

They are great engines no doubt, but they are honestly an improved version of a tried and true design that has been around quite a while.

So now I'm a poser?
Where the hell do you get the idea you can say that when you have NO IDEA.

Don't forget DRAGNQUEEN you may have been in nursery school when I made my 1st pass down a dragstrip(early summer 1969 two trials in an I/SA 59 Dodge belonging to a friend of my brother and I ). Have I ever claimed to be a big bad bracket racer like you? Hell no... Had some fun though.
I played the bracket game a few times over the years... 88-98 at least twice a month. Deb and I had our first date bracket racing... I ran Mod she ran street/trophy. I had my slowest ever reaction time that day(over 1 sec ) Her car decided to take a wire off the cap 1st round and sputtered to mid 15's . Glad I wasn't racing her... She'd of thought I sabotaged her. She prefers car cruises and big show's over racing. However she's competitive... Way back early 90'sRome NY next to Jamie Stanton's Chevelle on the local Blvd she beat him off the light....took him 2-300 ft before he got by .

Did plenty of street racing before life's responsibilities cut that to a minimum.

I'd prefer heads up racing. However I'd run out of $ for more important things like family and caring for them ahead of myself and my fun.
Remains to be seen if I can race at level I want vs what my bones allow. I want to do drag week type stuff. If health doesn't allow' one of my "kids" wants to drive for me. She's pretty aggressive and competitive. Was good at running hard with the snowmobiles against the big guys too. One son is great tech but not a competitive person the other is into motocross and snocross and a body builder.

Am I a racer or poser??? I know where I stand...

Some would say that the people who voted for Clinton and Obama(worst President in the last 100 years) had mental disorders. Trump will be re elected in 2020. People vote their wallets and many people here in the US are doing better, Canadian.
