I’m trying not to get excited.
I pull up and the car.....I should say, the shell of the car, is outside. Not much else is out there with it, so business is quiet. Good. The hood, doors and trunk lid are inside being worked on. He’d painted the door jambs and the underhood area of the front fenders and wanted approval of the color. Approval given. It looked GREAT. Sorry....nice.
The door/ rear qtr gap? I was told I’d be happy. We discussed flatbedding it to Bham for the roof installation. He didn’t really want to drive it to Bham freshly painted. I concurred. That’s one of those things I’ve woken up in the middle of the night thinking about over the last months.
So. Progress.
How long? If I get it back before Christmas, I’ll be surprised.

I don't know how the weather is in your neck of the woods around Christmas, but up here by Christmas I'm shut down 'till spring. When the roads are clear and salt free. I'm going to look up the weather in Pleasant Grove, just out of curiosity. :-)

David's weather is exactly the same as we get here...only 2 hours earlier...lol
I will say that you never can tell about December but sometimes on Christmas Day, it may be 45~55 degrees and sunny. Other times, may be in the 30s or so but not too bad generally.
On rare occasions, we may have some frozen precip on Christmas but not often.

Forest's house is down somewhat south of me in the movie. Reality is that the movie was filmed mostly in South Carolina and Savannah. Generally around here the grass stops growing in mid/late September. Driving season down here never ends. We do get the random "winter storm" and they'll actually put down a liquid chemical of some type as a preemptive thing but it's a day long thing versus a weeks/months long deal. Firing up the car in a warm basement and pulling it out for a run on a cold dry winters day is good medicine. One I'd like to experience this winter.

I contacted (email) Hagerty this morning as part of putting the body shop and the insurance company together. Tommy, at the body shop, said he'd tried to reach the original adjuster (local) a number of times without success. Hagerty said that they'd just contacted the appraisal company to have them reach out to the body shop to check progress and handle "any supplement" that might be needed.

David...………..when I started to read your post...………….it was all so familiar. My 78' Grand Am that I've had for 16 years was clobbered by a new 4 X 4 Chevy truck back on May 21st...………….putting me out of the cruising season. The guy pulled out of a parking lot............and claimed he didn't see. Now...……...the way he fought with his wife at the scene............I'm not sure when that racket started. I have decided to repair the car myself...…...with the help from my brothers...……..and rent a paint booth when the time comes. I'll try to add some pictures.
