Sounds like you're talking about the appraiser, not the adjuster. Hagerty is there to pay for the repairs, once quantified; usually done by an appraiser and approved by the adjuster.

Unfortunately if you take the car to your selected body shop the Insurer may not have any additional leverage to get the work completed in a more timely manner.

As mentioned before, I would keep pressure on the shop to get it done. By stopping in on a regular basis to check on progress and make sure its being worked on.

I think bringing this post up just reminds him of a bad situation.

Putting it on the back burner in your mind also means you won't get your car back in timely fashion either, so which is worse? I'd be reminded of the situation every time I go in the garage and see my car still isn't there. It would always be front and center in my mind. No way I'd just sit by idle, doing nothing and just waiting for a body shop that just wants to take their sweet, sweet time. I'd be down at that shop once a week putting pressure on them. Either get it done or get used to me sitting in your waiting room bothering you until it is. It's astonishing to me to see just how many people here seem to be all too content to just let a shop have their car for YEARS. I don't begin to have time for that, to have my car gone for years at a time on account of someone else, instead of enjoying it on my own terms.

I think that seems a little presumptuous if you're aiming the comment specifically to David's situation.
Just because he is not airing his frustrations in this forum on a regular basis, or updating us every minute (as if we needed to know) doesn't mean he's just passively sitting by the phone.

I'm not suggesting necessarily that he is. But some others here are more less suggesting that's what he's doing or should be doing, and that's not how a situation like this should be handled.
