I'd love to have that Bonneville Convertible... if I had room for it. Take a look at the passenger's side in the underside photo of the exhaust... it looks to me as if there's a hole in the outer side of the floor across from the oil filter.

As crazy as it might seem, if the underside of that TA isn't all rotted out, $4500.00 might not be a deal breaker price in the current market. I used to buy Ta's in that shape for under 1K all the time when I worked at the Pontiac dealer. They would typically give the original owner $500.00 trade-in for one in that condition running and then offer it to the mechanics for 1K. Double their money with no effort, no auction. They would never put a wreck like that on a used car lot at the dealer. But that was in the mid-late 80's and the cars were worthless unless a SD car. Times have certainly changed. Now the late 2nd gen cars are the darlings of the era. Plus this one only has "251" miles on it!!!!

Nice 1962 Pontiac convertible. Those years are like the Oldsmobile, rear steering box makes it hard to put dual exhaust on. The 1965 thru 1970 Oldsmobile B&C bodies did have an S shaped driver's side dual exhaust manifold. They were rare. Thourton re-pops the Oldsmobile now. Everyone would "smash" down an exhaust pipe going to the passenger side then back toward the rearend then back to the drivers side. On my 1967 Oldsmobile 98 I used a Toronado drivers side, cut and rotated 180° nickel welded to get the angle for behind the steering box, a little grinding necessary.

I busted tires at a Firestone tire center 1978-80 and I can't make myself remember ever seeing that particular Goodyear namesake. Not that we did many new car take-offs. GR 70-15 would be consistant with a '78 new car, as it was just before the metric sizes started showing up. A close look at the lugnuts brings back memories. Those are OEM and no sign of swelling that was typical of that style. Also, the wheel center looks more like a mint condition specimen, verses restored.

He can make any claim he wants about being actual or documented - doesn't make it true. How do you definitively document that mileage as being legit?

That trim ring and center cap condition are totally in disagreement with the rest of that wheel. As is the obviously very rusty brake caliper. Who knows what the story is with that car, but I smell an awful lot of fish.

I was only pointing out that people might be overlooking the exact verbage of the ad copy.
Obviously, it's up to any interested parties to do their own inquiry corrospondance to see what kind of provinance the seller has and decide if it would be worth a personal inspection.
