There is a compression height where the engine is not happy due to the trapped end gasses from combustion. This subject has been posted about many times.
The engine is much more likely to have a tendency toward pre-ignition and poor flame travel across the piston. When you have a controlled spark and a uncontrolled ignition event meeting in the combustion chamber things are not good. This can happen with any fuel, even Nitro.

If you put the right pistons in the engine you remove a potential combustion issue.
You are early into your program. Take your time and do it right.
Speaking of Aluminum Rods. Bill Miller rods are used in Funny Car engine that Mike G and Eric L race. Mr Miller makes a fine aluminum rod and they have been used on street drivven engines for years without durability issues.

GRP Rods are great Drag Race Rods. I would not put them in my Street Driven Engine as way overkill for a street boosted application.

Bring it George and tell me that GRP rods are better vs Bill Miller Rods.
Mike and Eric run 6.0s with Miller Rods.

Keep living in the dark ages George. You have the same junk for 20 years, there are pioneers pushing the envelope everyday. Not all the fast street cars have aluminum rods. And a lot of the street cars with those rods are faster than your race car.
You are like one of the old timers who still thinks 60-70 muscle cars were fast. Now a days an average car is faster than an old muscle car.

"Take your time this is the ONLY time"........ I will agree with Tom!
GRP is one of the best aluminum rods out there so YES it would make a GREAT street rod.....this isn't 20 years ago, aluminum rods have change leaps and bounds! There is also nothing wrong with Bill Miller rods......I NEVER said there was, I just prefer GRP's!

Ive been RACING with Forced Induction for around 30 years with 3 different types of Roots Blowers (4 if I count the blower in my Wifes TA) in that time I've used 4 different types of steel rods (Factory cast w/good rod bolts......455 SD rods.........Eagles H beam and Oliver rods and the BEST move I made was going to GRP aluminum rods (Thank You KRE). My bearings are looking WAY better with the Aluminum rods then with ANY of the steel rods I've used. FYI! Remember Performerpm spend the MONEY and do it right the first it will last longer!

Dark Ages?....20 years ago? Not likely, I HAVE/BUY the BEST parts for my race car, you can't go round....after round....after round racing and make up to 1,400 HP with Junk Parts. I LOVE racing and I can't race if my car is broke! The proof is in my race car! "Pioneers".........now thats FUNNY!
As for 60's and 70's race car..........$3,500 would buy you a FAST car that you could actually work on, NOW............$45,000 and a lot more!
You WIN!

Your ignorance on what's out there makes me win. If George does not use it, it's junk. LMAO. Just think George, an 88mm turbo on your car, you could go deep in the 7's and get rid of the 50 year old zoomie /blower look. Flat hood and 1 second faster with no other changes. It also will not hurt your bank book too bad.
Anyway again yes you can use those rods with a good bolt and get plenty of years from them.

Ignorant....that pretty harsh. There are a lot of parts out there I don't have on my car that are excellent.....your putting words in my mouth and not doing a very good job at it! You do know that if I put a bigger (10-71-14-71) roots supercharger id go quicker too....just saying! As for a 50 year old zooms and roots blower look .......its my choose, I think it looks cool and Turbos are BORING!!! Wake me up! LOL!!

Now this Video is not BORING!!

George is just reliving his childhood where he always wanted to be like Arnie Beswick and run a Blown GTO on the race track. The old GTos with a blower were solid 8 second cars and George has a solid 8 second car.

He had no feeling for 5 second Fords with Turbos and 281 cid engines, JSPONT.
And he really does not care about fast small displacement cars and engines with EFI.
Everything is Old School: Blower, Dominator carbs, Zoomies, 1974 body, 1974 chassis technology.
Takes a man, like Beswick, to drive a car with a blower and that crap for a suspension system.

Todays Pro Mod Technology is constantly being updated. Chief runs Marty P's old Pro Mod 70 GTO but with some chassis upgrades. George's Chassis IS consistant and gets him down the track. Apples and Oranges comparison JSPONT. And it is George's car.

You are right, I re read it, sounds harsh, sorry, but turbos are far from boring. Superchargers and turbos are ruling the drag strip. 7+8 second street driven cars are becoming normal. Hell 2 JZ Supras with 6 cylinders can go high 6's and drive drag week. Look around George, open your mind!

Kiss my aze George, lol! You are going senile, can't remember where you are.
This is the Boost Section where I have far more experience with Boosted Engine projects than you could have in several lifetimes. You need to grow up a bit and act your advanced age vs pretending that you are still 12 years old on the playground. Even though some 12 year olds might be bigger than you. Except for your mouth. Just messing with you Georgie. Bet you spend a lot more time on a recliner than I do.

So Tom I finally figured out why you don’t race a Drag Race car........it’s not because you don’t want to or because you can’t afford to build one or it’s not because that you don’t have the time .........NOPE........it’s because......wait for it........it’s because you can’t get your head in a Helmet!!! BINGO!
Ok I feel better!

Wonders will never cease, Taff2. Put it in your memory book.

LOL! Still waiting for George to explain the difference in the 3 Compressor maps I posted.
Hint for you George, the 3rd one is for a Roots Supercharger.

The roots blower is a dinosaur. The factory stocker cars at over 3500# and small block engines have run in the 7 second with modern blowers, basically flat hoods and small tires.

While the correct piston is the best answer. One can run two of the thinner heads and sandwich a machined spacer plate between them. I have seen this done / work with a 1/2" plate to raise the deck height.
