Concluding causation ...from a correlation, is bad science.
Aluminum components transmit noise differently than other metals. To me, they seem to add a hollow tone to an abnormal engine noises.

I’d kill one cylinder at a time to see if that eliminates your TICK. That would eliminate a lot of possibilities.
