Big Tex trailers are very strong, but they’re also heavy.

Chief you know you need to take the Big block out and put in a Pontiac engine. From your picture by you name you have a Firebird. You run that also? That is a good Idea with the lines I'll be painting my enclosed trailer deck.

Open trailer suggestions
This 18 Big Tex weighed 3200 lbs as seen here. The gravity tilt was very nice but it was 4 inches narrower then my current 20 custom built beaver tail non tilting trailer which weighs 2800 lbs. I dont need to take the fender off now. The bad part is I seem to drag the back of the trailer everywhere now. I need to replace my 5 drop hitch with a 7 to see if that helps. The dragging is worse with the 3500 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Typical GM truck. Sits ass end high, put 500 lbs. in the back and the ass end drops to the ground. That is why I only tow with a Ford or a Dodge. They don't squat to the ground like they're peeing when work calls.

When we use my current trailer for the auction business we have to hook it to the Fords so the rear doesn't drag when we come out of peoples driveways. It barely moves with my 5th wheel camper attached even scaled at 2000lb pin weight. My truck and the boss's 2017 F250 picked up 2 skids of lump coal back in February weighing 1500lbs each. His was sitting on the bump stops while mine squatted an inch but only because the bulk of the skids weight was behind my rear wheels as it sat at the tailgate since I have an 8' bed. Even with a car on that trailer it still is nose high. I really wish my truck squatted like you claim they do. I'll save on spray paint touching up the underside of my trailer every time I take it out. With that being said, the only time my current trailer won't drag is when the guy with the Tundra hooks up to. At night he'll blind semi truckers with his headlights. But anyway, I honestly regret having mine made with a 4' beaver tail. I should have done 2'.

Truck we picked up to be auctioned off with a 454 jammed in it and there were 3 Ford blocks and other various junk sitting in the bed. Messed up my spray in liner bad that day. And my tailgate got wounded when it was unloaded.
Anyway...how come in my pic my trailer is still nose high and in your pic, your trailer is nose diving?

Back to the OP question.
https://www.mentzercustomtrailers.com/ The above is who I had my current trailer made by. If I would have had to do it all over again, I would have gone with a 2' beaver tail rather then 4' and I would have had the fenders sit higher so that I could run 225/75/15 ST tires rather then the 205/75/15 ST tires. I briefly swapped out to the appropriate weight rated wheel and went to the taller tire but the tires started to rub the fenders at highway speeds. Been kicking around the idea of selling the trailer through the auction where people have been paying stupid money for trailers and having another one built.

Higher fenders to put on a larger tire may be good but on some cars you won't be able to open the doors of the car. That is why some trailers have the fenders removable. On my trailer I had that problem at times, so when it came to installing new fenders because of rust I made them removable.

Look again. The trailer is flat. The way it should be for safe towing. And did you miss the part where I said there was about 1750 lbs. in the back?
