As far as mortality rates, it is very confusing, and I am beginning to wonder if ANYBODY really has a good handle on it. With recurring reports now coming out about the extreme hush-hush numbers of actual deaths in China, I really don't know what to believe.

BTW, do you have a good source for O2 bottles with the military fitting on them? It's hard to breath through this thing, even without the CRU-60P connector … lol.

I'll call a few of my buddies still on active duty to see if we can set you up. As far as China's actual mortality rate, I used Italy's transmission rate and mortality percentage as my baseline. I came up with 2.5 million infections and 292,450 deaths. I calculated this based on China's full population (1.428 billion). It's probably not accurate but neither are the numbers coming out of CCP. Using the CDC numbers, the U.S. has had a mortality rate that varies between a low of 1.3% of infections to a high on 2.0% of infections, but as this thing climbs toward peak infections these stats will change dramatically.

An adjoining city has had two pharmacists test positive in the past week. They work at pharmacies across the street from each other. Just imagine how many prescriptions they may have handled for the community with no obvious symptoms present!

I've been working from home for the last two and a half weeks. NC has issued a Stay at Home policy through the end of April.

The economic impacts are starting to be felt. I work for a major company that supplies emergency power (UPSs) to industrial customers, server farms, etc. I was issued a letter saying that I may need to travel for my job. Today our CEO announced major financial changes are being enacted. Managers are going to be forced to take one unpaid week of leave every quarter. Annual raises will be postponed until 2021 for all employees. Hourly workers will have their hours cut, salaried workers may be forced to take one unpaid week of leave every quarter, hiring freezes are in effect, and expenditures are being cut to the bone.

I just read on Flip Board (on my phone) that cats can spread the virus to other cats, and from them on to people. Beware to cats outdoors. You indoor only cat/cats should be ok..... hopefully.

Cats can be infected with the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 and spread it to other cats, but dogs are not really susceptible to the infection, according to researchers in China. The team, at Harbin Veterinary Research Institute in China, also concludes that chickens, pigs, and ducks are not likely to catch the virus.

Scientists say the findings are interesting, but that cat-owners should not be alarmed just yet. The results are based on lab experiments in which a small number of animals were deliberately infected with high doses of the virus, SARS-CoV-2, and do not represent real-life interactions between people and their pets, says virologist Linda Saif at The Ohio State University in Columbus. There is no direct evidence that the infected cats secreted enough coronavirus to infect people, she says.

I won't take that as gospel Stuart. China lied about the virus not being contagious... look how far it's spread.

A side note...... The Earth isn't vibrating like it did before all this has taken place.

Just got the INDOH COVID-19 update:3,039 total cases with 78 deaths statewide. Clark Co.(next county over) just had their first fatality due to COVID-19. Around here, we’re up to 31 cases, all of which are described “mild”. The Indy metro area should be avoided. 57% of all COVID-19 infection in Indiana are located in the four most populous counties that make up the Indy metro area. INDOH says our peak infection is still two weeks away. It’s odd; Indy is “on fire”, yet Ft. Wayne (second largest city in the state) and Evansville(third largest city in the state) have very low numbers of positive COVID-19 cases. The U.S. transmission rate is up to .00065. God help NYC....

An email went out today from my employer. They started scanning everybody's temperature as you enter the plant last week. One worker tested positive for COVID-19, and a couple of people who worked in close proximity were sent home for quarantine. No word yet on the employee's condition. There have also been a number of people in my town that tested positive.

INDOH released the infection rate this afternoon. 16,285 Hoosiers have been tested for COVID-19. 3,039 tested positive. That is an 18.7% infection rate. Once again, 57% of all COVID-19 are in the Indy metro area.

This is a take your mind off the seriousness for a minute deal. A doctor trying to keep staff up with his attitude. Click on the handful of short videos. Smile for a second. I did. Bless their hearts for giving all. He did this between patients.

My wife was transferred back to the ICU after four years .... she had moved up to management. She is taking care of a couple of Covid patients now ... says the protective gear is a total pain, double masks, double gowns, face shield etc.

She'll probably be there for at least a couple of weeks before she goes back to her office.

I told her to try to get out of it by telling them she has an "at risk" person at home ... hey, I'm 61 years old. If she tests positive at some point it's going to make home life very difficult. Of course by the time she would test positive she would have already given it to me

What I've done with my VTO (Virus Time Off)

Got the engine in the frame and started, first time it's been started in the frame in 38 years.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFTG8abnd9I

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQEVunSspoY

Upside ... it runs ... down side, blowing a tad of smoke on the left side during deceleration, could be some oil burning off the brand new exhaust system, and some tranny fluid dripping from the access cover .... dip stick showed about one pint high. Kind of strange ... didn't leak a drop for months on the test stand when run.

Couple facts. NYC has most Coronavirus cases in US.
NYC has the most Rats in the US.
NYC Rats tested in 2018 had various versions
Of Coronavirus And they were mostly very healthy.
They are Immune.
Their blood plasma COULD provide the basis for a vaccine. New Yorkers could be quarantined With carriers AND the cure... ....

Bruce, it also has the highest population density in the U.S. That is the one factor every hard hit area has in common. Remember that the term “coronavirus” describes the shape of the virus cell, not the disease it causes. The common cold and influenza are coronaviruses.

BINGO, you just verified again what I have been saying. Influenza is being counted and tested as Coronavirus, which Increases the numbers. Living with Rodent carriers isn't helping either.

"instant" or under 5 min tests only show if a person has some anti bodies in their blood to fight "a" coroavirus. It does NOT mean they tested positive for COVID19..
While precaution is needed, I seriously suspect that only Half, or less that are "drive through tested" actually have the COVID19 version of Corona virus.
It takes time to get a culture to grow from a "sample" and these quick tests are just helping the media go crazy with numbers and scaring people.
Over 1/3 of the US population has had influenza in the past. They WILL test positive for Covid19 the way things are being done.
Maybe in NY metro , they should just skip testing and give everyone a dose of medicine while they get some plasma from the rats there and develop a vaccine.
I am betting some of the homeless in NYC are Immune as well by now. Heard Immunity, like the rats have.
"Escape from NY" could have a newfound meaning as they are arrested at the RI Border now ....
I have learned that this "crisis" has shown just who can even learn to, or do a slight job of taking care of themselves.
