There are many settings that should be turned off on an IPhone or Galaxy. The only app that's downloaded on my older IPhone is the BibleApp, I know it's secure.

Getting rid of G@@GLE on all your devices....a Must! Wife & I did it years ago.
No GeeMail accounts, period! DuckDuckGo, the only search engine to use.

No regular driver vehicles with tracking devices factory installed, am sure that will be difficult for numerous on this site.

Get off F&cebook. Contact your friends & followers with your contact info, then delete your acct.
Beyond amusing how naive some regular posters are on this site in respect to FB. FB's only purpose is to harvest info from you, your friends, family, & business contacts, & build a profile of you which can be spun anyway which way FB desires. Last, of course, sell that profile to whoever. FB owns other platforms, like Instagr@m, know what they are, don't use them.

Install a good VPN, & be careful what you post on the Net.

YES! The only Google I ever use is an very occasional Youtube but with no subscription.

They can also control your Smart TV. I don't have cable/satellite on my TV, just free antenna channels.

Had the experience where a Claude Van Damme movie on the "black" network station "Bounce" channel was at a point where the police department was being picketed by cops and civilians. TV shut off. I thought it odd, and fired it up. As soon as the picture went on screen, TV shut off. Thought maybe my TV was going out. Repeated, same thing. On next try, I changed channels before the movie pulled up on the screen. No problems now. So went back a channel to the "movie," TV shut off. Interesting. Fired TV back on, changed channels again, TV screen stayed on. Went through all my channels, no problem until I came around to the "movie." Once again the TV shut off.

I could not watch that "movie" which was obviously being purposely shut down due to its content beig broadcast on a "black" TV network, and the state of BLM and the anger against police officers. I knew right then that "Big Brother" has control of the transmission of wireless signals, as well as any cable/internet signals.

Most accurate description of FB I have ever seen, as for VPN, I didn't know what that meant so I had to Google it...

I know I know, I'm addicted to it, even though they could probably tell you which hand I wiped with this morning...

It's getting tougher all the time to maintain some sense of privacy no matter what aspect of life your talking about...

Sharing information can be a gift and a good thing if used for the right reasons, I'm a avid supporter of wikipedia.

Case in point. I was talking with a buddy on my smartphone and discussed, among other things, a forthcoming medical procedure I needed to schedule and how a buddy of mine was nearly busted while "on maneuvers" with some "Patriot Group" he is mixed up in who decided to post a sentry armed with an AR-15 at the entrance to the state park they were "playing army" in.

The following day I got emails from Quest Diagnostics touting their online scheduling for medical testing procedures and from Brownell's re: a $42 off sale on AR-15 Giselle Triggers and other A-15 parts. Just waiting for the FBI to show up inquiring about my buddy's where-abouts on January 6th.

There is some insidious technology being used for target marketing right off your phone conversations for sure and it's a small step from big brother knowing all.

I know someone who served on a grand jury several years ago. It was the job of those to listen to evidence provided by the D.A. to determine if there was sufficient evidence to charge and seek prosecution.

If nothing else, for me it was affirmation of not having any social media apps on my phone, not running the newest operating systems, ect, yada-yada...

Honestly I could live without a smart phone, they can be handy, but for me all I care is that it work as a phone, be able to send and receive texts, and the only reasons why to me a smart phone is nice, is because they have decent cameras, and can store music (as long as you're not running a newer operating system which requires you to stream using data).
Roughly half of my phone's hard drive is music, the other half is photos.

Never use my phone for payments to phone plan, they don't understand? Doing auto payments? Open access to your account??? Never use it to log into my bank account. Never use it for fakebook, ebay, none of that!!! I call and text friends that's it! Have heard to many stories like many told here and don't won't to compromise myself. Friends and coworkers have had bank accounts and ebay BS hacked because they use their damn cell phones all the time. Keep mine turned off most of the time, the gun on my hip will keep me safe quicker than a call to 911.

My wife and I were talking about something a while back and it was't 15 minutes later when she got an alert on her phone advertising exactly what we were talking about. It's happened on her phone two or three times. She has an iphone, me an android.
I have pretty much all tracking turned off on mine, never use Siri or anything like that and never use GPS to find anything, wouldn't even know how to do it. I'm just not a phone guy...

In 2007, which is a long technological time ago, the FBI was able to turn on an individual's cell phone and use it as a listening device. Only if the batteries were out of it was the phone useless. The information was gained legally, and used as evidence and finally conviction of "Honest Services Fraud" that came with a 5 year stay at a white collar prison.

I don't do any of the social media, unless you call visiting this website social media. I was never a facebook fan, don't have an account, and don't much care for the rest of it either.

I do have a smart phone, only because my flip phone died and it's impossible to buy new ones. I don't much care for what it can do, I just text and make phone calls on it. I'm just not a tech junky, I don't care for it. In fact I wouldn't even carry a phone around if it wasn't for my wife. I still use paper road maps regardless and don't rely on the phone for anything.

We still have a house phone with land line and an answering machine

I recently got a new $50 flip phone at Consumer Cellular replacing my old CDMA/AMPS phone.'s technology.
