You should be fine with the SRP flat tops and an 87cc chamber. I'm running the same pistons in my .035 over 455 (463) with 80cc chambers in my E heads on 91 octane. With zero deck, mine comes out to 11:1

You should be good to go with the 85cc chamber heads. Be somewhere in the neighborhood of 10.5:1. Depending on tuning and cam choice you may be able to run mid-grade.

What are you running for a Intake Manifold and what rear gears are you running?

I've built quite a few engines with the 5 CC pistons and 85-87 CC aluminum heads. Most have the 236/242 hyd. roller cam in them and run fine on 93 octane fuel. No hint of detonation at all.

The heads on my 455 are KRE's with 76cc chambers. Calculates out to 11.3 to 1. Been fine on a straight diet of pump gas now for quite a few years. The cam is a big player here, duration, LSA and intake closing point and overlap can make or break that deal.......Cliff

Loved the 60310 when I was running it in my flat top 463 with big chamber KRE D ports. That motor ran fine on 93. I am considering swapping out the OF and going back to the 60310 in my current engine.

XE-285 with 1.65 rockers, 85cc e heads that roll 310 cfm. Exactly 10.85:1 compression with KB hypers. Loves 93 octane. 37* total timing. You'll be fine!!

The combustion chamber design will also have a effect on the situation.

Of interest, how combustion chamber design relates to engine performance....

The calculator I used comes up with 10.65 with a .028 head gasket with .000 deck. Just for fun I did it with .000 for head gasket it was 11.31

Sure, it's a Comp Cams custom solid roller with their XE Street Roller lobes 4878 and 4879. 266/272 duration @ .050 with .398" and .404" lobe lift (works out to right at .650" net lift with my HS 1.65 rockers) on a 110 LSA installed on at 105.25 ICL.

This is my second cam with the Comp XE Street Roller lobes. I've been very happy with them. They seem to be very easy on valvetrain parts and don't require a lot of spring pressure.
