Back in the day, one of my coworkers traded in a very nice 1967 Corvette coupe plus a bunch of cash for a new 1978 pace car...In the long run it wasn't the wisest thing to do.

1967 was the last good year for every car maker ..if you ask me.

Great cut-off. Three years before the apex of the musclecar era (for all brands)...

Great score! Personally I've always really loved the style of the 80-82 Curvette and sure wouldn't owning one some day.
I'm surprised that so many C3 corvettes are so cheap compared to our 2nd Gen birds. Is there something I'm missing or is it just me?
Looking forward to see how awesome that LS swap turns out in that Vette.

C3s built after 73 arent worth much compared to the early bumper cars. GM made a bunch of them, and most Vette guys kept them in really nice shape, so the market is saturated with nice later C3s.

I just ordered the cam, springs, and torque converter for the 6.0. Just gotta figure out headers and what intake I want to run.

Haven't updated this in a long time. Ended up painting the car in the garage, cut and buffed, and decals installed. After that, brought it to the dyno to get it tuned and dialed in.

It's a 6.0 with a 228/230 .585 112lsa camshaft, with a sheetmetal intake and a 102mm throttle body. Everything else is stock and untouched.

It made 371hp and 358ft/lbs at the wheels. It probably would've made a little more with a tighter converter, but I prefer the looser converter for the street. Plus it should really shine on the highway, which the car will see a lot of.

Here's a few pics of what's been going on...

Great Job on saving that Vette .
For some reason I was thinking you were going to go non-factory on the paint .
It looks sharp and I like the last years of the C3
Congrats !

The only thing ever wrong with those cars was horsepower. I liked them otherwise.

You solved the HP problem so that's an awesome car!

I think it was 180hp at the crank from the factory? lol

With the cam in it, headers, 2.5" true duals into Flowmaster 40s it certainly doesn't sound like a regular pace car anymore. At idle you can feel it in your chest. Probably the nastiest sounding 370hp I've heard haha
