More Progress
So, while I'm cutting and buffing out the paint on the Bandit, Nick is fabbing up some cool air ducts for the turbo compressor inlets, They utilize the existing cut-outs in the front bumper.

I'm also adding a temperature/humidity sensor from a Mack truck air intake so I can monitor weather conditions. Utilizing Holley's software I can add a math channel to my tune file and have it spit out real time density altitude based on this sensors readings and my input of track elevation. Bandit will be it's own weather station. Pretty cool!

Very cool. Nice fabrication. I wonder if they will be worth anything ET wise?

Erik, do you mind posting some info about the turbos? I read 78/75 but didn’t see much else. I’d appreciate it. I may be jumping off the deep end and doing this soon. Thanks

Hope you have enough cash to purchase another set. I did the air scoops "down low", (copying the Olds 442 1966 & 1967 Ram Air cars, but I had the air feeding a circular Ram Air "Box". https://www.ramairbox.com/ The air cleaner had a filter. I was amazed with how much road trash the scoops collected and transferred to the Air Box. A cup-full at times. In your case I see no filtering system prior to the Turbocharger compressor blades. Maybe you have some screening that was not visible in the pictures. Hate to see a new set of Turbos trashed and needing a rebuild minimum because you killed your turbos. Big Chief got his turbos for free from Precision Turbos (so if the Oklahoma grit kills them) he can get another set. Food for thought. Tom V.

Getting ready to update this thread. I have tons of pics to upload. The turbos are VS racing 78/75 T4 units https://turbo4less.com/product/vsr-n...n-7875-billet/

Back to work on the Bandit
Sooo, The car has been down for a good part of the year since Drag Week 2021 and our lifter demise. Upon tear down and inspection of the block we elected to machine up a new block as we had found a small crack on the parting line of one of the cylinders that experienced a little interference with the piston and needle bearings from the lifter exploding. Thankfully all pistons checked out OK. So while the engine was back out of the car, Nick decided to modify the front frame to allow oil pan removal. He jigged up the lower control arms, cut out the frame x-member and fabbed up a new x-member and forward attaching points for the lower a-arms. Now we can drop out the center and remove the oil pan for inspection.

More Pics
So during Drag Week 2021 after running an 8.500 at Norwalk we hit the road and the exhaust lifter on cylinder 5 decided it was through with life and came apart on the road to the next track. That ended our Drag Week abruptly.

More progress
Nick decided no more drag and drives for now and we went about turning the car into a full time race machine. So, out with the heavy ass 4L80e and I built up a pretty stout TH400 for the car with aluminum forward and direct drums, 36 element pro mod sprag and 300M input and intermediate shafts. We ordered a new QA1 Carbon Fiber driveshaft also. While running the 4L80 we had problems starving the trans during hard acceleration (2.2g's) so Nick fabbed up a rear sump oil pickup for the TH400. We were going to do this for the 4L80e also.

Getting the motor back together. Nick used a cool website called send-cut-send to make new coil brackets. You draw up what you want in Autocad and send them the file and tell them what material you want the part made out of and they laser or waterjet cut out what you need and send it to you. Saves a bunch of fab time.

She's officially a Bandit now
I had painted the car over Thanksgiving of 2021 and it has been sitting ever since. I finally got some ambition and cut and buffed the car and Nick put all of the graphics (Phoenix Graphics) on her. Now it looks badass!

Engine install
While it was apart we sent out a lot of the aluminum components that Nick had made to be black anodized. Previously most were just painted black. Pulleys, crank sensor bracket, timing cover, front motor plate coil brackets, valve covers, valley pan, fuel rails etc. Nick also installed a burst panel into the plenum of the intake while it was down.

More stuff
Thought this was pretty cool. Nick machined the heads to accept 12AN ORB fittings in the intake side water ports . Now we can use a more low profile fitting for the water hoses. It's the little stuff. LOL
