1968 Bonneville rear diff mounting brackets.
Hi,
As parts are not readily available for the BOP diffs here in Australia I'm thinking about installing a Ford 9" into my 68 Bonneville Coupe. Can anyone tell me if there is a company in the US that manufactures the OE mounting brackets for the springs, rear shock mounts & the upper & lower control arms? Thanks. |

9" Ford rear axles are commonly available for A body (GTO) and Body (Firebird) cars, but I'm not aware of anyone who has them ready made for B body big Pontiacs. That doesn't mean they aren't available, I just haven't heard of them. Probably the biggest name in the game is Currie - you could try contact contacting them to see if they can help. https://www.currieenterprises.com
I've been watching some YouTube channels from car builders in Australia, and I've noticed they use 9" Ford rear ends in some of their projects. It appears they get them from Hughes Performance, since they're in country for you that's another possibility. https://www.superformance.com.au/products/differentials I also found a listing for Outlaw Performance which is a speed shop in Adelaide, they import and sell 9" Ford parts and may have more contacts that they deal with in the US - I imagine getting parts shipped from there to there isn't easy or cheap. https://outlawspeed.com.au/shop/tech...form_rear_axle |

P series Pontiac, not "BOP"
The rears in '65-70 US built big Pontiacs are P series 8 7/8" rears.
You will need to find someone who has a clean loose housing or rear to have the outer shock/lower control arms removed from. Have cut the last 15" off many an early 8.2 A-body housing to later remove the outer brackets for use. Unfortunately, don't buy '69 & '70 Bonne's as partscars anymore & am out of housing ends for these. The housings for the '65-70 P series rearends are divided into early & late styles as far as bracket mtg goes. As long as you stick to an original P series rear for donor brackets from a '68-70 B series Pontiac, you should be fine. Upper control arm mounts will have to fabricated...typical course of action on 9" housing swaps.

Have found a place in Oz, much to my surprise , that can build a 9" to my specs & supply all the mounting brackets for the conversion into the Bonneville. As well as supplying axles with the 5 x 127 bolt pattern.
