I have HS 1.65 in my race motor with 240# seat pressure when the springs were new and have never had a problem revving to 6800 rpm.

Well you can't wrong with the Crower rockers but as Tom S. mentioned the HS are great too -I have them in my build. The Crowers should give you a little more room with valve covers as the SS are a bit bulky. Regarding the lifters, if staying with HRs, my Comp/Shavers have been great with over 2500 miles. The Hy-Lift Johnson HRs get recommended all the time but not sure they are available. Of course you can use Assume that will be the case with whatever you choose so you may want to place order as soon as you can. https://butlerperformance.com/i-3164...ller%2Blifters
You also have the option of Crower SR lifters if you don't mind tending to the lash periodically: https://crower.com/lifters/lifters-b...-straight.html

Channeled '32 ford roadster with what looked like an Olds or Cad engine with dual carbs. In the episode they claimed it was 'supercharged' but I didn't see one. Anyway, the roadster was black and had a 'Iskendarian Cams' sticker on the cowl. Very cool. I have seen Ed in person twice, once at the Eagle Field drags when he was 94 years old flag starting races, and this past May at the same event, at age 100, still participating, and still involved. He is a super humble, nice, and bright man. So, in summary, I like Isky products and good on you for using one.

If you’re having Isky repair your cam. I’d go with Isky solid roller lifters. Set the lash at what ever they tell you. Last I remember lash on hydraulic roll cams .5 - .6 thousands. But best to ask them. They have one of the best solid roller lifters.
PS: also run lifter bore restrictors, they tell you what size to run.

I have been adding up the parts cost to recover and its just not in the budget right now. I have a block now and I think my rotating assembly and heads are ok. I cant afford to repair this cam and buy new lifters and rockers etc. I am thinking of a HFT to ease costs and just regular stamped rockers to get me rolling again until I can get back where I want to be. The block will be just like the last one, a 455 bored .30 over. I have the 325 CFM ported Edelbrock 85CC heads. The pistons I have give roughly a 10.25 compression. I have EVERYTHING else I need except I have to swap out the Torker for a Performer RPM. Is the 2802 Summit cam a good choice for this? With my parts I can always go back later but right now I just gotta get rolling!

Gosh, 2 455’s. One with 72cc heads and one with 85cc heads. And they both have app. 10.25 CR. That must be a huge difference in the pistons.

Call Bullet HFT Ultradyne lobes 296/304 on a 112LS. 11-12" of vacuum @900 idle. works my power brakes fine-79-81 TA 4 WD dual diaphragm. The next step down 288/296 have been used by a lot of folks-Butler even used to sell them. Either 1.5 or 1.65 HS rockers and good to go. About 8 or so HP with the higher ratio. Mine took a 9.150 pushrod.
I think my Ross pistons had about a 17cc dish. From Dave at SD.

Let me give you a little combination that made right around 500-525 hp, according to his track numbers. I had a little influence in helping pick cam and some other things in the combination. I know your probably not interested in his ET. But he did run 11.60’s at Norwalk.
It’s a real nice street car, pump gas heavy too. It’s a 1967 GTO think it weighs 3600 lbs. killer street cruiser. The cam here is the key. It’s a 461 cid, out of the box 72 cc Edelbrock heads, with RPM Edelbrock intake, and a Q’jet crab. So it’s right around 9.5 compression. The cam is Crower 60919 cam HFT cam. I would use what you have and go with the Crower 60919 cam. Think he went with Johnson HFT lifters, I can’t remember what the rockers were but it’ll come to me from some where in back of my head..LOL Real easy street combination

When I ran 10.90s in good air it weighed 3750. Heavier snowflake wheels and spare back in it to slow it down 11.50s in 100 degree Texas heat on 275-60-15 DOTs.

Oh I forgot to mention he didn’t want to put a roll bar in the car, keep it all street, now for the hilarious part, to keep it from going faster then 11.60’s which anything faster requires a roll bar, he has a block of wood under gas paddle. Your car is allot lighter.

You got it, Ram 1V head flowed what 220 cfm add a E-head that flows 270 + cfm give or take few cfm, add a 1.65 rocker and the lift goes from .470 to .516. Also that was a 400 cid. So add another 62 cid and 50-60 cfm. A better intake. Makes for real nice street cruiser.
PS: if you have a head that flows 325 cfm your adding close to 100 cfm, if my head is working right. LOL So for someone looking for a nice street cruiser and isn’t ET chasing. Doesn’t get any better. Everyone has different goals.

Are we saying 041 with 1.65:1? Not another truck-motor thread those are so boring lasting only a few hundred thoudand miles making close to 500 HP...
I get it playing for the audience but for 20 HP what are you willing to trade off? 64 get a rev limiter of some form or your problems will never end. |

A ‘set it and forget it’ flat tappet hydraulic cam for years upon years of worry-free motoring.
How intriguing.
