Default 1969 Pontiac Firebird "Short Issue" When pulling out the headlight switch

Hello.

I am in the process of replacing my headlight switch due to the issue I was having with my front parking lamps.
As you know to do this, I had to pull out the dash to get to the headlight switch.
I have since replaced the switch, but now every time I pull the headlight knob out to turn on the light, the front headlights, gauge, shift indicator light, etc.. the interior lights (shift indicator light, gauge lights) will turn on for a sec and then goes off as the headlights will remain on. So just the interior lights go out.
The 20 Amp fuse that is labeled "Tail"...blows everytime. I haven't touched or changed any wires. I also put in the old headlight switch and the problem still occurs. This problem also occurs with or without the gauge cluster attached.
I can post some pics of the wiring if needed. Any ideas, please let me know. Thank you.

If you didn't have this problem before disassembling the dash check that you didn't damage any of the wires . If nothing is found then it must be an independent problem and you are going to have to check the wiring to the rear lights.

Sounds like a grounding issue, maybe you pinched a wire somewhere, very easy to do.

Update **

I now have the parking lamps working correctly. Had to switch a couple of wires around. The correct filament is on for the parking lights. The directional is working on both sides as well.

My last issue is... The running light on the passenger side works and stays powered. No issues..... But on the driver side, the running light is not working. I have tested the socket and bulb, both of which are fine. I'm sure its a wiring issue of some sort but I'm confused as to why everything else is working just fine. (lamps, directionals etc..) I will check the wiring diagram but in the meantime, if anybody has any ideas or suggestions..on what to check, I would greatly appreciate it.
