Just to clarify on the IA II and IA IIA front main extra oil feed: If your going to use that oil feed, I recommend shortening that 1 stud about 1/4" or so to provide a clear path for oil to enter the main. As delivered, the stud is just barely in the way and the drilling process may have a hole or groove through the bottom of the stud. If your not going to use that extra oil feed, just plug it and move on with your build.

would you shorten it with the aluminum as well? those studs have the bullet nose. I am pretty sure the hole in my stud is more than 1/4'' above the end of the bullet nose. Do the Iron ones have the hole in the stud, as well? I have never used the port, yet

As a side note, for a little extra stability: The 6 splayed studs on the center caps do not reach the bottom of the tapped holes to contact the bullet nose. I installed a steel ball bearing in those locations so the studs would push into the aluminum as designed. I install the studs to 20 ft. Lbs. in the aluminum blocks. I use some locktite on the one stud that goes into the open hole in the #1 main. It's possible that the IA folks have changed the lengths of some of the fasteners on the blocks over the years. I have built about 8 Iron IA blocks and 4 aluminum ones and this has been what I have encountered so far. |

Mine had the hole in the bullet nose and full of aluminum shavings making it a little hard to take out the first time. Not a big deal just something to check. If using the hole I'd need to mark the stud where the direction of the hole is or shorten the stud.
