Default Our Pontiac's camshaft length

Does anyone know off the top of your head what the length is? I'm taking some planning measurements and am wondering if I'll be removing the trans cooler or can scoot it enough for an in chassis swap. Thanks.

You can’t just unbolt the non hose end of the cooler and pivot it down below cam height?

I would think that if you measure the length of a push rod cover and add 3 inches to that then such a measurement should be more then enough.

Is this on a 66/67 GTO? If so, I am doing this now on my 67 and I had to unbolt the horns to have enough room to get the cam out.

Depends.

Is it a 326 cam, a 400 cam or a 455 cam we’re measuring?

If it’s only a 2bbl cam it’s even shorter!
:-)

I thought it was the 3/4 cam that was shorter?

Interesting- I pulled the cam on 66 and only had to remove the radiator

Now when someone asks you, "how big a cam you got?" you can tell them 22-1/2 inches.

Probably, I hope so. I'm just doing a mental installation test run for an eventual swap and just don't have the cam (or any for that matter) yet.

Thanks! Yep 67. With the 22 1/2" value I can definitely see the need
