how much ceiling height? my problem with all those lifts is they are as much or more than a full blown 2 post. if you dont have sheet rock in a 8ft garage a 2 post with floor plate can just fit and cost less. i have a 4 post lift with 6.5 foot legs that i think i could easily get a trans squeezed through and fits under 8ft ceilings. in any case my dirt track buddies have the open belly style midrise lifts and seam to like them but my corvette buddy with his attached two car garage has managed to pull off a quite a few big jobs on his c5 with the miniature/portable 2 post lift i think the brand is a max jax? looks like a regular 2 post but uprights are only 4ft or so high. he easily removed his trans and rear cradle from the c5 although he couldnt stand up he was able to sit comfortably on a stool. i also have a c5 so i was already looking when i seen his. cost per height sucks with them though, luckily i was able to fit a 11k 2 post under my roof for less than the smaller lifts. if you can manage to fit the shorter 2post open top floor plate style in your garage that will be your best bang for your buck even if you cant use the lift to its full lift ability. a new one can be picked up for 2k or less on ebay.
i lucked out on this like new tuxedo 4 post on fb marketplace. i feel like at 2k it was as budget friendly as you could ask for while also walking under it |

Thanks I like the max jack ads,I just sold a 4 post it was taken too much space.Im much more interested in the mid rise whith open center with entry ramps.I can keep it stationary and still have clearance to park 76 ta over it.Out of sight out of mind.I have 8ft ceilings but don't mind sitting up on my creeper. There are some nice mid rise setups with open center available, just not sure what brand to get ,hence the reason for this post

It sounds like you’re looking for a pad lift, top quality is Rotary & Mohawk, then it’s the Asian import lifts with service & parts availability like Forward, Challenger, Quality, Direct, Bend Pak & Atlas ( In that order for quality) Then from there is various import no name brands but be careful because you may not be able to source parts for them.

Yep, same thing as this one. I would never buy a lift off of Amazon & expect that it can be serviced or repaired. I recently had to help a customer replace an Atlas version of that same lift, he couldn’t get repair parts so he needed a new lift, I sold him a Rotary four post.

No major lift manufacturer will make one of them beyond mid height due to the design. They will however make a full size/full height scissor lift for approximately 50% more cost than your standard four post lift due to the cost of materials in the piviot arm assembly. They will also tie in the top of the lift with runways to keep the lift square, these lifts are typically used in alignment shops with smaller bays. Even the most top tier scissor lifts will move slightly if you try to push the lift towards the other side. This piviot design is very maintenance intensive & have a shorter service life due to piviot wear. Where I live in the North East due to salt & melting snow I will typically recommend against them unless absolutely necessary due to a space constraint in the bay. The four post design with full runways is the safest most durable design. It’s the same principle when we are talking homeowner grade lifts or professional. |

44"vs 24" is a big difference, the bars going across at the bottom should support some of the sway.Im not looking to put this at max height just high enough for trans removal using a trans jack.I know amazon is kinda iffy but I was just using their pic for reference.Like mentioned before I've had a 4 post and also one of the quik jack .The 4 post was nice but took too much room and still had to jack it up to tire change.I want something I can drive over and raise car easy peisey.

When it comes to lifting vehicles the minimum spec is ALI (American Lifting Institute)certification, if you purchase a lift from a manufacturer that doesn’t adhere to those minimum standards not only are you at risk for safety measures to prevent disaster but also when it’s time to repair or service that lift there is zero sales support offered by anyone so it becomes a throw away which is adding insult to injury after spending your hard earned dollars on a product. Think about the TV at your local Walmart, you can’t get it fixed, you throw it out & replace it, that is the same with some of these home owner imported lifts so just be aware. |
