Default Did Small Impulse Buy of AFX HO 73 RED and White 70 TA

Noticed AFX slot cars have a red 73 TA and White 70 TA, I bought them. Now I got to dig out my Aurora 1/87 track from 60+yrs ago. Kids. My wife use to say (bless her),youll never grow up'. I'd say so 'what's your point?

I picked up a new large four lane AFX set about 10yrs ago to share with young grandkids when they visit. As they are older now, last year I gave the set to them, they seam to like it as much as I do, but they are close to outgrowing it. Or maybe not?

Outgrow it? No way! I'm 56 and set up my Tyco track every now and then. Especially since my 8-yr old nephew stops by fro play days.

I used to have an enormous amount of Aurora track and cars. Sold it all decades ago. LOVED it growing up.

Funny you mention that. I noticed an add for an AFX yellow 79 TA car. I looked on eBay for an AFX set I had growing up that came with two 79 TA's. I figured out AFX sold the same track set under different names depending what cars came with it. I didn't find the track I was looking for. But two identical layouts, one set came with Can Am cars and the other with vans.

I really regret letting go of my sixties vintage red-box Tyco stuff. The cars were by and large Formula 1 types- Lotus, BRM's, and the paint colors were pretty nice. Hard to find that stuff anymore.

From what I read the AFX new cars are being made by guys that had either had affiliations or interests in Aurora. Seems new cars will run on older Aurora track. New controllers are hand held from pics my old ones are the table top mounted steering wheel controllers. Now to find my old 1/87 track.

Thanks for sharing pics of the cars. They look really good and Ralley IIs on the 70 with Honeycombs on the 73. Might add them to my random Pontiac toy collection.
