No kidding! That’s a heavy block! I called a neighbor to help me put mine on the stand, I’m old and weak now!
I was 21 when I built my 1st motor in the basement of my apt building. I had 2 friends help me carry the fully assembled block with heads on up the back stairs out to the garage! CrAzY!

I weighed a stock 66 389 Block & crank on a fairly accurate hanging scale at: 248.5 lbs
I have a note from some source says the crank alone is 70-80 lbs, so block is around 160-170?

I have 11 bare blocks. A 62 389 was the heaviest at 162 pounds. It is a 15H code. No other block was above 158. But I painted a black and purple stripe on my 69 GTO driveshaft.

Pulled my ‘56 Chieftain out of its winter home. Fired it up, changed the oil and checked torque on the heads. Then another round of showers came through. This winter in the Midwest has killed my ambition. More cold weather coming this week.

Took the Lemans into Lisboa for government inspection. Evidently it passed. This was a serious concern as things such as tire size, non-metric speedo, no amber rear indicators, rear fog lights, side exhaust (1972 style) could be enforced.
It seems these things were not a concern to the inspector. When I got it back the wiper was partially up and non-functional and the exhaust now has a leak (???).

Temp insurance expired today, so will have time to mend these issue and other items that have cropped up. I will not be able to legally drive it for 3-4 months until the Portuguese plates are issued and not insurable till then.

Speaking of plates, theis is a pic of how they do/did it. I was offered the vintage black plates for the measly sum of €350 - pass.
I like the ones with the yellow year/month code off to the right, but they are not offered anymore. The plate are not made by the state but but licenced vendors. I will see if they can kern the digits a bit close and I can add afterward a 71/06 yellow patch for funsies.

LOL. I'm not sure the shed contains any sharp tools anymore. I saw a segment in the news at a beach in FL asking college students on Spring Break questions like how many states are there, how many senators are there, who we fought in the Revolutionary War, etc. They didn't know any of the answers. The two worst ones were what shape is the Pentagon building and when was The War of 1812? They didn't know those either. And these were actual college students.

Went to the grocery store and went to place the groceries in the trunk of my 69 gto. Trunk key would not work. I got home and tried the new spare key. No go, so I drilled it out, and opened the trunk with a 🪛. Purchased a new 🔐 and good to go.

I know it's a little late but I do know for a fact that you can remove the rear seat and with enough socket extensions you can unbolt the trunk latch from inside of a 69 GTO and open the trunk that way.

Spent the last two weekends polishing all the trim around the windshield on me 66 2+2 convertible. I have all the trim off. Of course I bent a piece while I was buffing it Took a few days to straighten it out.

I would agree the block is about that much - only one I weighed was over 30 years ago when I was scrapping it and 150 ish is what I recall. I think I got $5.25 for the cracked 389 block and a old battery
