I pulled the back seat out to repair a small tear and found a copy of the Build Sheet. I know the car is a 1971 Catalina Freeway enforcer with a HD Frame, HD TH400, 3.23 open rear axle. Can we decode anything else?
Any help greatly appreciated

455 car YC
Do you have the invoice for the car ? Curious what option 476 is , it can't be actual Honeycomb wheels. Must need the Catalina special equipment order sheet to do some of those. |

Neat car to have! Let's see some pics.
I'm surprised to see an open diff. on a Police car?

Also - those broadcast codes will correspond to the components they represent, that is:
PH - on the build sheet for trans will correspond with the PH on the tag on the trans Similarly, "BZ" for the radiator on the build sheet should appear on the radiator itself somewhere (like painted on the end tanks, and also on the tiny metal tags). etc K

Before I posted previously , I did check gt-37.com (Mike Noun's site) and looked over a standard order form , and the general production specs.
Went back today and dug around some more and found the general "Special Equipment" page too. This does have a different Trans Code from regular production cars. His = PH PA is std with 455 4bbl They also list other combos with PB PD and PF So he does have special equipment on that. 3.08 was standard axle ratio with 2.56 available for Cat., so 3.23 is special equipment also. 37G on his Bsheet = 3.23 421 = Deck lid release 476 = something about wheels , but not Honeycombs ! Maybe 15" HD rims ? Can't find it 607 = 601 Police Speedo (calibrated) 602 Roof Wire Harness 604 HD Seats Fr & Rr 626 = 621 = Ride & Handle springs & shocks 622 = Heavy Load S & S 624 = Extra Heavy Load S & S ? Take your pick ? 646 = Police Group - Freeway Enforcer noteworthy is 645 = Highway Patrol Tire Code SW = H78 x 15 Black Fiberglass Wheel Color = A = Black Wheel Code = AL (this should be stamped next to valve stems) Should be 15" rims to go with 15" tires above Last edited by Baron Von Zeppelin; 04-07-2025 at 06:09 PM. |

The PH code Trans - possibly it came with an auxiliary fluid cooler ?
The sheets on gt-37.com blurr as soon as I start enlarging them I can't find anything on 476 except Honeycombs , and that's a no-go on a B body , plus the color code is Black on the rims. Last edited by Baron Von Zeppelin; 04-07-2025 at 06:31 PM. |

Cammerjeff , contact MikeNoun on here and ask him to email you nice clean clear copies of the 71 Cat order sheet and 1971 Special Equipment order sheet , and the 71 General Specs sheet.
To go in your car file. He has them posted on his site , but they are hard to deal with. At least on my screen. |

742 -
801 - no idea Think we came up with an operation code for 742 before , but it might differ from car to car , and year by year. |

As already stated the car came with a YC code 455, a Police/Towing TH400, HD frame, HD Aircleaner and Radiator, HD Front and rear seats, rear window defogger, remote trunk release, and tinted glass all. The odd options to me for a Police car are the Custom Cushion steering wheel, 15" Delux wheel covers, and they ordered Carpeting. The odd thing is the carpet is laid over the full rubber floor mat that Police and Taxi's came with. I cleaned off the 50 years of crude off the cowl trim plate, and I see it has a hand stamped "2" in front of the 11 11 Paint codes. Has anyone seen a hand stamp on a trim tag before?

Just read the other thread and got some of my answers.
Police chief car from 71-80 An old vintage photo with fullsize wheel discs and light bar siren on roof. The HD seats say they came in Black. Your interior trim color is 511 Blue The painted interior trim is Code E - Blue |

Yes on the hand stampings on other trim tags.
Various stampings in various places - from various plants and years. No idea what just a 2 would mean. In front of paint codes. On others they stamp numbers such as body buck jig #s , and other stray numbers we have no definition of. |

Pretty wild that someone put 68 RamAir exhaust manifolds on it in the past.
Very Wild. And cool that you put new RA manifolds back on it. 7041268 is the HO carb with XC pick code. Yours being an XA pick code would be a 7041262 Unless it has been changed to a 268 Other thread mentioned an HO carb on it. |

What is the option number for HD Air Filter ?
That is usually a foam wrapped filter element. Do you have the PHS Invoice ? |

455 Grille Emblem on a 71 Cat .
I'd have to have that on there , maybe rocker molding 455 emblems too. I think they have said those didn't get put on the cars all the way through production. ![]()

#422 on the HD Air Filter/Cleaner
Not on your Bsheet. Also illustrated is the #701 HD Radiator with standard 5 blade and no clutch , like yours has.
