Finished the Vintage Air install on the 74 Trans Am.

Now I concentrate on relocating the battery to the trunk and take the car to the shop to have the AC system charged. Hope it works

Nothing. Trying to find an upholstery shop to give a quote on the ‘55. I didn’t think it would be this hard. None of my local gearhead buddies know of any. And the few I’ve found through Facebook and googling don’t answer or call back. The search is still on.

Today I admitted defeat. The old body cannot do what it used to and my son agrees. The 71 LeMans will be towed to the guy that did the exhaust and EFI to be finished. We were trying to put the Core Support back on today and the arthritis is too bad. Plus last week I put in 61 hours at work and the next few months will be the same. I'm ****ing tired.

The boy thinks I'm too picky but I want to make this car RIGHT. I have well over 1200 hours in this over the past 25 years. Even got to drive it around the block once a few months back. Now I need to comprise a list of all the stuff that I want done. I'd love to talk him into swapping in the 200R trans I have and 3.73 gears while the guy has it. It currently has the TH350 and 2.97 posi.

Hopefully in the next month it will be on the road, and I'm looking forward to a long top-down cruise by myself to reflect on what I did accomplish.

Hey! I can relate!
Problem for me is when I pay someone to do something, it never meets my standards. So then I get pissed and say “I should have done it myself!”
BUT getting older, and never seeming to find the time, my projects wait. I can relate to the frustration.
I’m at a point in my life that I do have the money to pay others, but trying to find competent people is the issue.
Just yesterday I called a friend who is good at working on trucks. My daily driver 2011 Duramax stalled twice this past week. I checked over the basics, and am to the point where it needs tearing into, especially at 311,000 miles. It’s hard for my ego to take, but I called in the help!

Installed the rest of the CA emissions equipment on the 1964 421 HO. I saw the CA only air cleaner bases pop up in the classifieds several years back and snapped them up, I capped off the center air cleaner base breather fitting for the time being.

Replaced the blank 49 state valve cover with the CA one with the breather pipe hole. Painted the reproduction breather pipe after test fitting it, then installed it along with a reproduction CA only ‘top hat’ oil filler cap which replaces the oil filler breather cap.

I wanted to have the CA closed crankcase emissions pieces in place in case they’re required in the future, plus I wanted more crankcase breathing. The dipstick has been popping up an inch or so whenever I’m leaning on the gas pedal.

From looking at the underside of the reproduction breather cap there’s really nothing more than 2 small slots to vent the crankcase pressure. Maybe the reproduction breather offers less ventilation than an original, I don’t really know.

So I’ll see if this cures the dipstick problem, I can always add back the breather cap if I find it’s needed to add more ventilation.

Topped ‘em off at Costco this evening before the $0.65 gas tax hike on July first. A lot of other folks had the same idea, more cars than usual for that time of night. Price was $4.75 for 91 octane.

Did a little work on the Le Mans before heading out. I swapped the 63 main jets out with some smaller 61 jets, then cleaned and oiled up the K&N air filters to get a head start on leaning out the center carb. I wanted to fill up to begin tracking fuel consumption after the jetting change.

A good excuse to take both out for a nice drive on an early summer night.

I remember doing that in Illinois. Their tax just went up also..... It dropped a dime here in Texas overnight. $3.15 for 93 octane.

Working on the Qjet from my Formula let it sit to long and got some crust around a main jet restricting flow not allowing it to idle well and one idle screw became unresponsive,

Next time iam going to drip in some 2 stroke oil enough to cover main jets before i let it sit very long, that will give it a boost in lubrication as well on a long awaited start

Practically non-existent in California, maybe a half dozen pure gas stations all located in the northern half of the state in sparsely populated areas.

Got 'em out, for a garage cleaning. The 68 GTO, and it's distant cousin from across town in Dearborn, the 70 Mach1. Mach fired right up, GTOwas a bit stubborn, but finally relented.Took the Goat around the block a few times, and back in the garage under the cover. The Mach will stay available for summer driving.
