Default Got scammed.

Looks like I got scammed for 150 bucks. Didnt even think twice to check the OPs username, guy sent me photos of some window sweeps, different vehicle but looked univerasal and I figured worth a try. Zelled 100 as he asked, then another 50 because shipping turned out to be more, and it was downhill from there.

150 is not a lot, but lesson here to be careful.

This is from my wanted door sweeps post in wanted to buy.

I already banned the scammer.

As a reminder……

NEVER use a form of payment that has no recovery of funds.

Always demand PayPal or some other form of payment that protects you.

Venmo, Zelle and PayPal friends and family gives you zero protection because it’s meant to be used between people who actually know each other or someone who you trust.

Some random dude from the internet isn’t someone you can trust.

I received an extraordinarily similar PM when I posted a WTB ad looking for a T56 alignment plate. I thought it was fishy and didn't respond.

Different user name, but the exact same structure asking me to email someone outside the board.

Hate this. At least $150 is cheap tuition for the lesson (compared to mine at least!)

2 days ago I got a private message from user name righsaah. New member and no posts asking me to e mail him because he doesn't know how to post pictures of the parts he has that I need.
I didn't answer him. Doesn't pass the smell test. I HATE scammers.

In the 20 years I’ve been here, and probably hundreds of transactions, I ’ve never been scammed. No conversation needs to go beyond the PMs here! I don’t email you. I don’t email your buddy!! I only deal with long standing members. I worked too hard for my money to just send it off blindly..

BMan and I were talking about this and it must be coming from countries where there is literally no opportunity. Seems like a lot of work to find you looking for a part, get pics of said part and make sure it’s correct, then hope you will fall for whatever trick they are playing.

At this point they may know more about the parts we want than we do! Next time just say ‘not interested but what site did you pull that pic from bro?

Sucks man.

But as I have said -- 99% of the time when there are numbers in an email address it is a scam!

I have numbers in my email address.. I'm not a scammer and have had the same email for over 20 years.

Obviously joking but more often than not any email with random numbers at the end is a scammer.

When in doubt, pull out!
