Default Head deck insert

Has anyone had the head deck insert done lately? It used to be done by Glenn Sedig and Calvin. I slotted a head and would like to get this insert installed to fix the head and maybe prevent it from happening again in the future. Thanks

Check with BES racing engines. Their website shows they offer this service. https://www.besracing.com/racing-eng...elbrock-victor

This is correct...I just picked my engine up, and they put these inserts in.

I just called over there and the guy that does it’s going to call me back later sometime after 3:00 ET. The guy I talked to said it was kind of pricey. What did they charge you to have it done? Thanks

The inserts were 325.00, and I had the deck welded and hoops installed when they did the inserts, so I dont know how much they were by themselves since they did other stuff...

Preston just called back. He said if no other work needs done it’s $750. That includes the parts, install, surface head, and blend into the chamber.

I supply the inserts to BES. I do not install them myself anymore. Tony at BES has the prints for installation dimensions required for the correct press fit to keep the inserts tight at operating temperatures. The inserts have proven to greatly improved gasket life in all brands ot race heads. Tony is even putting them into small Block Chev. heads.

Thanks for the reply Glenn. BES has my heads now. Patiently waiting for them to get done.

Guys hate to sound ignorant but what is the insert? I am assuming to keep head bolt threads from pulling out?

It goes between the siamesed valves. Helps takes away the heat.

I would think Beryllium/copper would be a good material for the insert. But if Glenn Sedig already has done all the design and has inserts ready to sell, I would contact him directly about buying some?
