PP was the most common code but there was also a HD air cleaner option that resulted in a different code (can’t recall off hand what the code is). It was the identical air cleaner housing and lid but because it came with the air filter element that had the oil soaked foam it got a different code.

Also the 350 HO version without a chrome lid was code PT without the HD air filter and another code I don’t recall with HD..

Interesting tidbit I’ve noticed. While the single snorkel 4 bbl air cleaners (the large and the small snorkel versions) all had the code and filter instructions stenciled on the dual snorkel 69 GTO air cleaner and all the 2 bbl air cleaners used white decals instead, no idea why? Perhaps different suppliers?

67 GTO in CA at $17.5K BIN. Claims the numbers match, but no engine pic. CA car so prolly no rust.

68 GTO in NY at $85K. For $85K you'd think you could take the cover off and get your thumb out of the picture. The car is way overpriced IMO.

71 Ttrans AM in Illinois at $98K. Nice car, but that's a lot of money. I'd rather have a clone and $50K.

I don’t follow the 71-72 TA prices, looks like a nice car, about what is the market value of a 4spd TA now?

There is also another four barrel air cleaner used in those years with no chrome lid and a longer narrower snorkel. They were used on 68-69 big car and GP 400’s as well as the 428-360 in the 69 big cars. The snorkel on these looks a lot like the one on two barrel air cleaners of the same era.
Here is a chart for the Assembly manual for 1969 air cleaner assemblies (thanks to Ross Anderson). You must compare the 7-digit number to determine the 2-letter application. The 350 HO uses code ‘PT’ with the HD (oiled) air filter and the baffle silencer at the snorkel opening. I’m not sure what the ‘D/’ & ‘T/’ means, but I’m pretty sure ‘W/” is ‘With’. Code ‘PP’ is the 428 (L79 – 360 hp) GP application with the large single snorkel.…not sure if with or without the HD filter & silencer. The 7-digit number would clarify.

My brother’s ’69 Catalina Ventura’s 428 (L79) has the small snorkel but missing the silkscreened application on the air cleaner base (repainted by a previous owner).

I'd venture a guess a good (priced to sell) price would be in the $50k range. It doesn't look like a frame off, which means you can drive it. It all depends on who wants it and how hard they are to find. If they don't need to sell it, they can ask for the moon and see if an offer comes close to what the seller thinks it's worth.

69 Firebird in Delaware at $1K NR. Rode hard and put up wet, this is a money pit and parts car only IMO.

80k+ car. 50k ones usually do not have their original drivetrains and are full of bondo.

Dennis
W means 'With'
D means 'Without"
T Not positive but looking at the charts I would hazard a guess that T also means "With, but only with the first 'w' on the line

For example;

For this GP. Two different air cleaner part numbers for the same engine, L79 or L75.
The difference is whether or not K45, (HD Air Cleaner) is ordered

Thanks for posting those snippets about the air cleaner numbers. Here is a pic of my recent ly acquired survivor 350 HO car, it has the PT air cleaner but I do not believe it had the HD air filter option (but I’m at my cottage so I can’t verify the PHS).

Show me someone paying 50k for a bondo’d 71 TA and I’ll show you an absolute moron.

Thanks North! Here's my brother's '69 350 HO air cleaner with the HD option...code 'PV' (6485501) with the A279C HD oiled filter. My '69 350 HO in the Custom S is code 'PT" (6485500) with the A212C filter. Interesting the silkscreen label on both say the same thing about the oiled filter elements "AC FILTER ELEMENTS ARE PRE-OILED FOR GREATER DUST CAPACITY". The last line is different on each.

That 68 GTO is pretty

As for the air filter element, they always have some kind of light coat of oil on the paper filters. I guess the note on the air cleaner is because they didn’t want people soaking them in oil like in the old days. (the old days back then that is.).

April Gold
I think the rose tint you see is a reflection of something in the spray booth
