Drove the LeMans down to where we scored an indoor parking spot. This is in one of the buildings that my son manages. It’s very secure, but we still positioned it in a spot where he can see it on camera from his phone. That’s about it for this year.

I've got a tracker on the car so I can always see where it is on my phone. What worry about more is door dings and paint damage.

I didn't have time to run over to the Pontiac Motorsports Patio today, but I did take an hour and a bit to blow my trunk lid apart. Need to remove three broken bolts and attend to the rust. Bolts are removed. Rust is waiting for its turn.

So cool. When I was a Petroleum Transfer Engineer as a kid, an old lady came in and asked if I could replace the light in her Pontiac hood ornament that looked like that one. Not sure what year her car was because it was nearly 60 years ago LOL

This adds some fuel to my fire working on my '56 Safari. We have it mostly dismantled for the frame-off work, with some of the dash, the rear seat, a couple interior trim panels, glass, and engine compartment left. I need to snap some pics to share.

Anyway, nice job on the ornament mounting and wiring! Those/these (I have one, too!) lighted hood ornaments are so cool. (Meanwhile, the kids keep fiddling around with LED lamps and undercarriage lighting, which generally looks so cheesy compared to this beautiful work of art).

In the process of rebuilding my 67 His/Hers shifter assembly. Had a rechromed shifter handle that had been stored for the last 10 years or so and still looks really good. Going to replace the neutral safety switch while I am at it.

Gave the ‘55 its yearly bath. Local car show Saturday, which I usually don’t do, because I detest “shows”, but this is a fundraiser for our local Fire Department and EMS.

Replaced the old aftermarket Sears Roebuck stereo with a retro looking stock one, the the previous owner bought and never put in

Well, living in a small town, working for the town, and having a lot of connections pays off sometimes. Took 3 out of the 4 trophies at the car show put on by the local volunteer fire department/EMS. Had about 60 cars here. I did NOT deserve this! Me and my wife do tons of volunteer work locally, I think this had more to do with things than my car.

Congrats (anyway); beautiful car.

It is routinely said at my local AACA chapter meetings that there are two types of owners of show cars: those to whom "The Trophy" means everything, and those to whom it means nothing (or very little). I suppose this is true of points-judged events, but there is another layer when it comes to popular vote, which adds two more types: those who just want a fair assessment by the voters of the car on its own merits, and those who are stuck on the "popularity contest."

I was talking to a fellow last year who was absolutely incensed when he attended a local show and where he knew everyone there and then received no award (he did have a nice car, but as we know, "nice" is always subjective for popular vote). I kind of shrug those things off.

In your case, I completely understand your sentiment. You almost need to have someone else enter the car for you so that "you" are not the one being judged. LOL

In any case, the car is beautiful, and likely deserving of some award. 😉

Yes, I mean I’m flattered that I won, but not really sure mine was “Best in Show” worthy, then to win every class except for “Best Truck” is actually kind of embarrassing. I would imagine guys with a nicer car would be irked seeing me win all 3 classes.
BUT, I talked to the guy running the car show for the festival, and told him next year my wife and I would actually like to sponsor the show, and buy all the trophies. We have a business in town, and another one ( a pizza joint with an old 50’s diner theme) currently in the works. If this is the case I won’t even put a number on my car, I’ll just have it sitting there.

We're in the homestretch of preping the Ventura for the drive to Arizona in a couple weeks. The only thing left on the list are the seats and the rear bumper. We were expecting the seats last week, but the upholsterer had an injury and has been backed up on jobs. When I spoke to him Friday, he promised he'd have the seats done before the trip.

Cole's going to race, so I've been trying to get any drips or leaks sealed up. I installed a Wagner PCV with the hopes that it might help minimize the rear main leak a little bit.

The speedo adapter on the trans also had a pretty big leak. Turns out there were two seals installed for the speed gear. Not sure how that happened, but a fresh seal and o-ring seems to have things sealed up. The aftermarket trans pan we installed a few months ago (when we were trying to diagnose a bigger leak) had a small leak from the drain plug which annoyed me. I'm not a fan of chrome pans either, so I reinstalled the stock pan with a LubeLocker gasket.

A few months ago I ordered a fiberglass filler panel that goes between the rear bumper and the tail panel from a small company. It finally arrived a few weeks ago and it's several inches too short and the contours are all wrong. Now we're trying to save the stock plastic rear filler as best we can. It's a tedious process, but a heat gun seem to help make it more pliable to fit better.
