Hopefully I have done the calculations correctly. I tend to look at BSAC to see how well the air is being used and his BSAC number look very good to me.

You're correct Stan. The BSAC numbers are good, and when analyzed with the corresponding A/F ratios, indicate the engine is currently optimized for as much fuel economy as possible right now. The number I find surprising is the volumetric efficiency, given the massaged large valve head and cam lift, I would have expected numbers at or close to 100% below 4500rpm. I still think a bit more fuel, perhaps just on the secondaries, would provide a nice jump in horsepower.

stan, do you think you could explain a little what exactly you're illustrating above? I'm on the steep side of the learning curve here.

I'd like to know what a good course of action is going forward since I no longer have access to dyno. I understand that a/f #s are going to fatten some going to manifolds and full exhaust? I assume I drive the snot out of the thing and observe? looking for lean conditions, nosing over, detonation. if anything like this is occurring I'm looking to fatten things up via secondary rods yes?

I really appreciate the conversation, fellas, thanks

At full operating temperature, any pre-ignition at steady, light throttle can be addressed with going up a jet number on the primary side. If you have no pinging at a light, steady-state load, but pre-ignition that occurs with applying slightly more throttle(when you are not getting into the secondaries), you can try going down a size on the primary rods or replacing the power piston spring with a stiffer one. If you only notice pinging entering or running at wide-open throttle, then secondary rods are the target.

Very stout engine, and awesome looking Judge! Hopefully we'll run into each other next driving season!

hey fellas, thought I'd put a bow on this ...

motor's in as of last week. OG tank was a filthy mess so we put in a new tank and pickup from our sponsor. tank itself fit fine tho filler neck a little low behind bumper. car has SS lines so we replaced any rubber, lost filter at QJ inlet and put a RobbMc filter inline, tucked away in frame rail. car has drums all around so went over brakes real good.

had an interesting first day driving .. put a few miles around town w/ no problems but en route taking my son to work we literally lost all power .. at a light .. in the middle of traffic. by the time we got car to the side of the road power was back. car fired right up but on the way to getting car back home this occurred two or three more times. I guess between nerves and being slow ha .. I assumed it was the pertronix module even tho I was losing ALL power .. duh. next day I put points back in and thought I had it licked until of course I lost power yet again. loooooong story short, many hours of sleuthing later I realized problem was ground from block to firewall: I hadn't cleaned fresh paint from block off etc. pertronix back in, 150 miles + later , no issues.

I still havent really gotten on it yet but car pulls like a freight train. total's at 34*, initial at 14* w/ no signs of detonation. we'll see what happens when I really open it up.
huge improvement via muncie rebuild as last season tranny was jumping out of 3rd on deceleration. builder installed shift-stops which feel really tight.
straight cut gear set not nearly obtrusive as I thought they might be but still sound totally badass ; )

below is all I got at the moment sonically and please pardon the dust. that crease in the center of rear bumper? I remember the moment I did that! 1982? , was at our local parts store and backed into some kind of parking sign in the lot ha.

appreciate all y'all!

I feel sorry for those poor tires behind that combination.
