My day job has been keeping me extremely busy lately but I’ve managed to get a few things done through some local shops and on the days I’m home.

The 58 Bonneville is soooo close! Thanks to Bonneville Joe in SATX I was able to get most of what I needed to finish it. The brakes have been completely gone through, Tri-Power has been rebuilt and it will be getting a new gas tank and radiator this week. I had a set of mounted 15” white walls that came on my ‘60 Safari so I polished up some ‘55 hubcaps for it since they are 15”. If all goes well this week I will be driving it around. Then I can start buffing the new paint.

The 68 Firebird barn find is running better every time. The valve train has quieted down and it idles great. New radiator hoses and thermostat a couple weeks ago.

The 72 bird is another story. Got the new cam and lifters in- and it was driving great. Then after about 100 miles one of the lifters wore down and it started running like sh!t. The shop is putting in a new cam and lifter kit- hoping for the best.

My daughter wanted to drive the 73 Blazer in the Senior parade so I used that as an excuse to finally get the tailgate painted (after 6+ years!). I should pick it up tomorrow.

The 95 Impala is cleaning up well. Original paint looks good from 10 feet away and I’m good with that. Added LED lights under it, cold air and soon a big stereo. Still needs a couple things like plugs/wires and a new electric fan motor but overall it’s driving very well.

Hurst Dual Gate for the 67 GTO has been rebuilt and started working on the console. Got the plastic base cleaned and resprayed. Fortunately the chrome is pretty decent, just needs minor polishing and new wood grain decal applied.

Prepped the red car for a upcoming event. Phased the rotor, set the timing, and adjusted the carburetor. Took it for a drive, filled up with fuel and stomped on a GTR .... All in all a lot of fun

Getting ready to do the fuel system so I went out to burn up some of the fuel in the tank so I have less to pump out. I had about 1/4 tank on my gauge. I drove it 42 miles, the last 6 the needle was pegged on "E". I had it this low once before and I think there were still about 2 gallons left. Still makes me anxious.

Building our emergency supply kit for the road trip next week. Extra belts, hoses, water pump, fuel pump, carb parts, distributor, etc. This is probably futile as I'm sure I won't have whatever breaks.

Taking out a GTR on the street nonetheless. Also great. With 565 Horsepower, 467 ft-#'s TQ and all wheel drive, they are formidable on the street.

I always carry 5 gallons in my trunk when checking if my gas gauge is reading right +-
Takes the anxiety out of it - ever see the Seinfeld episode where the are betting how far they can drive before they run out.

I took my new to me 66 GTO convertible down to True E, then got gas and it took OVER 19 gallons so someone must have but a 21 gallon tank in at some point +-

I do remember that episode with Kremer on the test drive.

I knew that on E I had a couple gallons left, and I chose a route that never took me more than 15 miles from home which is only about a gallon worth of gas, so I was pretty safe. Kramer, not so much...

Drove the 66 today- pegged the gauge at 245 deg. I got home and the cold case radiator was boiling over. Turned the ignition on and the Derale fans were coming on for 2-3 seconds and shutting off.

Ordered a new fan controller and it should be here tomorrow. Weird thing to go bad in storage???
