Found this early picture of the 64 Comet
Brinsfield Mercury must have sold out to Gate City right after that time. Brinsfield was the Datsun dealership in Greensboro for a while. Out on the west end of town. I was born in Nov 63 Can remember we bought a 66 Chrysler new for my mom from Gate City Chrysler/Plymouth.

My uncle raced with/against Ronnie in the 60's and early 70's.
I didn't know Brinsfield was ever the Mercury dealer in GSO. His Datsun dealership folded in the mid to late 70's before Datsun became acceptable cars. Rice Toyota (great name) dealer was able to hold on through that period and Toyotas got more popular , then went viral. Datsun Honda Toyota cars were just jokes around here until about 1976 or so. My buddy and I chased points there back in the 80's and early 90's with our GTO's until we decided starting a business would be a good idea. We haven't done more than an occasional late night drag night since. Dhoo!

Gauging by the wagon, and the fuel prices, and the way the guy was dressed (looks like my dad then) it must have been mid sixties. Went there (cape cod) regularly as a kid - very late sixties to early eighties. 24.9 for regular leaded and 29.9 for premium leaded. Believe minimum wage was $1.10 hour then. So it's all relative. Was great before it was ruined by wealth and became a playground for the rich. Went to one of the very last Drive In movies at the long gone Hyannis location "Revenge of the Nerds II". Believe the Wellfleet drive in survives as a nostalgia joint.

Ouch! In high school I drove my uncle’s wrecker on the graveyard shifts, saw a ton of that kind of stuff. Took a lot less than that impact to kill people.

In our early 20s a friend owned a Grand Prix like that.
He passed out drunk/high/too much partying - at the wheel going down the highway. Has no idea how long he was out of it - cruise control was set. He didn't remember there being any traffic on the road that late. Rammed into a car - from behind - and he came to. Grabbed the wheel and stopped the car. The car ahead of him that he rammed .... just kept on going. ?So he drove on home. Shaking like a wet dog. Saying prayers not to get a DUI |

I like the Thunderbird beside of it.
Both are symbolic names/gestures to air force pilots. Cool they are parked together. Grandma bought a new 78 Town Landau that bodystyle , but better color combo and wheels. I drove it a lot when I turned 16 a year later. Made a good impression on girls fathers when picking them up in it.

Nice color pic of the Challenger before he added blowers. There’s a lot going on there!
