Totally. It could have gone South quick. A good reminder to leave no stone unturned. It would have only taken a few minutes to pop open the carb.

Here's where I netted out on the kickdown.
- '74 GTO throttle cable - Stock '74 2bbl/4bbl throttle bracket. Tapped additional hole to mount it on the '68 intake. - '69 Firebird Q-Jet throttle bracket. - Lokar adjustable TH350 kickdown cable - '68-'69 Firebird kickdown bracket, modified and mounted to the throttle bracket. The Lokar throttle cable kit uses a little floating teardrop-shapped bracket mounted through the kickdown stud. The kickdown kit didn't come with one, so I made my own. Seems to work well.

What's that z-shaped bracket to the left of the pump rod? |

We did! Thanks for all the advice, we had minimal issues on the trip. I posted some pics in the Lobby: https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com...d.php?t=882672

Not sure I'm following on the z-shaped bracket? The only one I added was the '68 Firebird kickdown bracket for which I modified a little bit.
