Default Update on the 68 GTO

It's been a long time since I've posted on here but just thought I would give an update on my car. After dealing with the "engine problems" I had, I've been steadily working on my 68 GTO. Since I last posted, I've done, floor pan and trunk pan work, installed a 4l80e trans, Dakota Digital gauges, SPC front upper control arms and I just got the car back from paint and body. I went from what was supposed to be "Solar Red" (it was too orange) to Blue Charcoal Poly. Had some rust repair work but was glad to find out that the fenders and quarters were original GM parts. After paint and bodywork, I ended up taking it to a shop that specializes in paint correction for wet sanding, cut/buff and polish. I think it came out pretty good. I'm looking for lower quarter panel molding/trim if anyone has a pair and is willing to sell. Hopefully I'll be getting the new black vinyl top installed soon!

Thanks! It's been a long road but it's been slow and steady. I ended up getting the seats redone as well. I've had this car for over 8 years and I've only put around 700 miles on it. It's time to get this car out on the road this spring. Hopefully I will be taking it to Norwalk next year. Here is a picture of what it looked like before!

Paint looks nice. How's the 4L80 playing? Did you go with the Vacuum Modulator or the ElecControl Module?

Went with the US Shift Quick 4 Gen 2. We extended the wires and have it hidden under the drivers seat. I can just reach under, make any changes and put it back. We put the Dakota Digital controller under the passenger seat. Came out good.

Very Sharp! I love the dark color, I'm leaning towards liking the off colors that nobody else has. My 69 Bird is Limelight Green with Black Top/Interior. Vinyl Tops Rule!

Judging by the way the paint turned out, your patience has paid off! I think the vinyl top is going to look awesome on that color! That car will look really good at the Cruisin' Ocean City in May of '26!

I don't think I've ever seen a black one in person or black in general so it was cool to see yours. Have fun and enjoy.

No thunder stolen! Starlight Black is great. I saw Blue Charcoal Poly while at Norwalk a few years ago and just had to do it. It's an odd color. Looks black in some light, kind of grey in other and when the blue hits...just awesome!
