Are you sure it wasn’t a 427? Can’t make out the emblem. Strato Chief is Canadian. Look at the room in those wheel wells! I’m jealous! Real Pontiacs don’t have much room at all.

It shows as 421 with the leading checkered flag.
But that doesn't really mean anything anyway. Emblems are easy to put on. Didn't have a chance to look under the hood. It could have had a 235 six or an actual 421 transplanted sometime in the previous 60 years

If I'm not mistaken Andre was a Frenchman. I'd guess he had trouble finding a French car that he would fit comfortably in. That being said I'd wager it was an export model.

Strato Chief was a Canadian model.
All with Chevy engines and Chevy chassis - routine Canada ponti-chevs. The beige car - you can see how far the rear wheels are tucked into the body. 421 emblems are an add on. Maybe it had an engine upgrade to match the emblem. Andre's V8 emblem was probably factory ,,,, small block. Up to 409cid was available in them. I have a 64 Star Chief 4 door post. Acadian and Parisienne and Laurentian were the only Canadian models I had seen before until this Strato Chief with Andre. |

Wonder if Mighty Igor had a car or was allowed to drive.
He was a wild and crazy guy |

The custom front end on the VW.
I remember quite a few of those back in the mid 70s Even Rolls Royce fronts - I think they were dealer conversions on new cars sold on their lots. Have not seen one in a long long time. EDIT : second look that might just be bad paint. But it reminded me of the ones with front end conversions. |

I think you're right about a custom front end and I think it is the 40 Ford style

I'm pretty sure you could order those VW custom grilles from JC Whitney.

Thank you Steve for starting this thread over 15 years ago! Still going strong. Too bad so many pics no longer show up. I’m sure many have been posted multiple times as it’s hard to remember if you’ve seen it before.
Keep posting! Mickey always looks happy!

Oh, yeah. Must have been the blizzard of ‘77. Of course, they have had similar weather events in recent years, where they’ve gotten 6’ or more of snow. We always watch in disbelief at the weather that they get and that we don’t. I’ve heard that it’s because they are on top of the Niagara Escarpment.
