Totally understand! I've been on my back on a cold garage floor with only a cardboard box under me for days trying to get it all positioned right, loosely u-clamp in place, so I can drive it up and have it welded, only to have it shift and then have to live with it! Arg! Heheh!

Could you guys help me with these two ground straps? I'm assuming the one coming off the shaker should slot into a female side that mounts to the firewall, but I dont see anything in the assembly manual. I also dont see anything in the Ames catalog that looks like it.

I also have a ground wire on the engine harness. I'm assuming it ties into the same ground that I'm guessing should be on the firewall?

Here's the shaker ground locations on my 2 TA's. The harness ground wire is bolted to the back of the drivers side cylinder head.

Thanks for the info guys! It's been so long, I can't remember if it had the firewall side of the shaker ground. I'll have to go thru all my old engine bay boxes and see what I find.

Pretty big update: The car runs! Got it fired up the other day and let it run for about 25 minutes. Took about 5 gallons of coolant over that time, although it never got above 160° as it's been relatively cold out.

All the electrical seems to be working perfectly so far. All lights work, including the reverse lights. Even the dome light and courtesy lights under the dash work. I know this car technically shouldn't have the under dash lights, but I couldn't just leave them taped up under the dash unused.

I've been chipping away on the little brackets and miscellaneous clamps and hardware. Still a bunch of little things to do, but the end of the tunnel is finally visible!

One thing I'm currently doing is cutting down the front springs. They're far too tall, so I'm starting with cutting one coil off, which netted a 1" drop. It looks better, but I might be chopping another half a coil. We'll see.

Took me over an hour, lol. Very neat story with seeing it sit in the same driveway for over 20 yrs & that guy finding you to sell it to you, then finding the original owners family recently. 👍

Quick question, what side of the coil does the tach wire run to? I believe it goes to the negative side, right?

If you couldn't tell, I dont have any experience with old-school points ignitions lol

I believe that it's turned sideways because YT has deemed it a "short" - which uses that format.

I had a number of my videos loaded up ages ago flipped (without my consent) to "shorts - which makes them a little trickier for me to find.

I currently have the 245/60s and 275/60s off my 71 on it, so I'm not gonna be able to completely dial in the ride height until I get it's actual wheel and tire combo on it.
